When She Walks Away (Teresa) novel Chapter 124

The call was from Charles. Teresa answered right away, just in case Troy tried to cause any trouble.

“Where are you?” Charles asked as soon as she picked up.

Before Teresa could respond, Charles added, “Grandpa sent me to pick you up.”

Teresa glanced at Troy, who was staring at her with a look full of resentment that sent a chill down her spine. For some reason, she felt like Troy was silently saying she’d let him down.

‘No way, he would never care about me like that. I must have seen it wrong. We barely know each other, after all, Teresa wondered.

After a moment, Teresa replied, “I’ll be right out.”

She hung up without explaining anything to Troy and turned to run back toward the ballroom.

But the closer Teresa got to the ballroom, the more she felt like something was off about the noise coming from inside.

When Teresa was right up to the entrance, she finally figured it out; it was people screaming in panic, mixed with the sounds of crashing and things being smashed.

Teresa realized something must have happened in there.

But the only way out was through the ballroom, so Teresa decided to peek in through the back door to see what was going on.

Through the crack in the door, Teresa saw that a lot of the stuff in the ballroom had been smashed, and a guy with a huge machete was swinging it around wildly.

Most of the people had already scattered, and the guy with the machete was looking around, shouting, “Where is she? Come out.”

When the guy turned his head, Teresa recognized him; it was the same creep who’d tried to get handsy with Serena earlier.

Her heart dropped as she wondered, ‘He must be here for me.‘

Just then, a figure came down the stairs. Teresa saw it was Naomi.

The guy with the machete spotted Naomi and charged toward her.

Naomi seemed to have only just realized there was trouble. When she saw the guy with the machete, she panicked and ran back up the stairs. As she ran, she shouted, “Charles, help me.”

Teresa saw a door on the second floor swing open, and Charles rushed out as soon as he heard the commotion.

Spotting the machete–wielding man chasing after Naomi, Charles snatched up something and hurled it down the stairs in a flash, hoping to draw the crazed man’s attention.

It was pretty clear the guy was off his rocker,

Charles’s move worked; the man’s eyes immediately followed the object that had been thrown down.

The thing Charles threw slammed into the door where Teresa was hiding, popping it open just enough to show a glimpse of her clothes. The man caught sight of her instantly, spun around, and rushed straight down the stairs toward her.

Seeing him coming, Teresa bolted for the backyard.

Brandishing his machete, the crazed man tore after Teresa

He was catching up fast; Teresa could feel him right on her heels.

Just when she thought she was done for, Troy burst out of nowhere and landed a solid kick to the crazed guy’s side. The man went

sprawling, and his machete went skittering across the ground.

Troy didn’t miss a beat; he sent the machete flying into the pool with a swift kick.

Teresa’s knees buckled from the adrenaline rush, and she crumpled to the ground, her mind reeling.

Chapter 124

Troy wrestled the guy to the ground and held him there, only letting go when the security guards finally showed up.

Teresa just sat there on the ground, her eyes totally unfocused, not even sure what she was looking at.

Troy came over and pulled her into a hug, gently patting her back. “It’s okay. It’s over now,” he said softly, trying to comfort her.

Teresa looked toward the ballroom, and through the chaos, she could barely catch a glimpse of Charles carrying Naomi away.

Guessing what was making Teresa so sad, Troy snorted with disdain, “Teresa, you trusted the wrong person with your future. You didn’t Just betray yourself. You-”

Teresa was really hurting, but after a while, it finally hit her. ‘Charles doesn’t love me, so why would he even care what happens to me?‘ she told herself.

Troy turned his face away from her, his voice steady and deep. “Do you regret it?” “Yeah, I do.” Teresa didn’t hesitate. With that, she got up, wanting to get out of there. Troy fell in step beside her and said, “If you know it’s not worth it, then why bother feeling Teresa stopped and looked at him. “Troy, I’m honestly calm now.”

sad?

It’s true, but sometimes my feelings still get the best of me, Teresa wondered. ‘Eight years–almost three thousand days and nights. That’s a long time.

Troy didn’t say another word. He was going to see Teresa home himself, even if it meant taking her all the way to Logan Manor. When they got to Logan Manor, Richard was still up.

Teresa forced a faint smile. “No, Mr. Logan, we didn’t argue.”

Hard to fight when there’s nothing between us in the first place, Richard wondered

Richard still looked unconvinced, but he said, “You and Charles need to get along. Once you’ve recovered, you should think about having a baby for the Logan Family”

Teresa didn’t want to waste time arguing, so she just agreed quietly, “Okay.”

After a brief chat, Teresa went upstairs to rest

In the dead of night, half awake and groggy, Teresa felt the mattress sink beside her. Suddenly, she was swept into someone’s arms.

Her eyes flew open, she was a light sleeper. Bathed in moonlight from the window, she saw the face of the man holding her It was

Feeling uneasy, Teresa squirmed and slowly wriggled out of Charles’s arms.

Charles caught on to her hesitation, but he didn’t hold her back; he just let her slip away, his expression unreadable.

After a moment, Charles finally spoke up. “Things got crazy at the party, and I had to rush out for something urgent. Are you alright?”

“I’m fine,” Teresa replied. With that, she sat up, swung her legs off the bed, and headed straight for the couch.

Charles watched her, looking puzzled. “Why the couch?”

Teresa lay down and said, “We’re about to get divorced. Guess it’s better if we start keeping some space between us.
