Chapter 126
Teresa looked at Andrew’s angry face and replied with a hint of indifference, “I can’t control anyone’s life, and that includes you.”
With that, she walked around Andrew and headed out of the main hall.
Andrew watched her go, feeling a wave of confusion at her sudden boldness.
He didn’t expect the woman who used to follow the Logan Family’s every command to now dare to talk back to him.
THE
Andrew’s anger only grew the more he thought about it. As Teresa was about to walk out, he instinctively stuck out his foot, trying to trip her.

Teresa didn’t catch Andrew’s sneaky move and went tumbling forward.
There was a staircase just outside the hall. She staggered a couple of steps and went straight down, her right arm scraping hard against the cobblestone ground.

Teresa curled up, clutching her arm, her brows knitted tight, pain written all over her face.
Meanwhile, the culprit stood at the top of the stairs, towering over her like a king surveying his domain.

Roselyn strode out of the hall and took her place beside Andrew, dressed the nines and looking every bit the lady of the house. She glanced down at Teresa sprawled on the ground, her gaze dripping with contempt and scorn.

“Teresa, you’d better get this through your head,” Roselyn said coldly. “In the Logan Family, you’ll always be nothing but a groveling
servant.
“You don’t even deserve to look Andrew in the eye, let alone talk back to him. Take a good look at yourself this is what happens when you forget your place.”
With a sneer, Roselyn gave Teresa’s book a hard kick, sending it tumbling down the steps. The book landed at Teresa’s feet, now smeared with dirt.
Andrew slung his arm around Roselyn’s shoulders, sneering, “Mom, why bother getting worked up over someone like her? She’s just a mutt in the Logan Family.”
Roselyn stroked her son’s hand and scoffed, “That’s right. If she weren’t carrying Charles’s baby, she wouldn’t even qualify to be the help around here.”
The two of them laughed out loud, not caring who heard them.
Teresa lay on the ground, her arm scraped and raw, but the physical pain was nothing compared to the sting of Andrew and Roselyn’s words.
For years, Teresa had worked tirelessly, always respectful to Roselyn, and out of respect for her, treated Andrew as if he were her own brother.
Whatever Andrew liked to eat, Teresa would go out of her way to make it for him.
Even if it was a dish she’d never made before, she’d quietly seek out the chef to learn how to make it.
But in their eyes, Teresa was nothing more than a servant in the Logan Family, not even worth as much as the maids.
Teresa might have been called Charles’s wife, but in this house, she was treated no better than the maid. Teresa used to put up with it without complaint, but those days were over.
Teresa pushed herself up, wincing as she moved her arm. Once she was sure it wasn’t broken, she picked up the book that had fallen at her feet. It was her study guide for the graduate school entrance exam.
She dusted off the dirt and carefully tucked it away.
From her spot on the ground, Teresa looked up at Roselyn and Andrew towering above her on the steps, acting all high and mighty. She couldn’t help but let out a laugh.
Her laughter was mocking, sarcastic, and utterly dismissive

Roselyn’s expression soured as soon as she heard Teresa laughing. “What are you laughing at?” she barked.
Teresa straightened up, her back stiff and proud, staring Roselyn down. “Your two so–called pride and joy? One can’t keep it in his pants, and the other’s got nothing between his ears.
“Yet you still act like they’re your crowning achievement. No matter how amazing you think they are, Roselyn, from now on, I won’t ever look up to them again.”
That offhand remark was all it took; Andrew totally lost it.
Andrew was seething. “Mom, I want you to ruin her. Kill her. And that slap she gave me last time? Don’t let her get away with it.”
Charles sat by himself at one end, busy with work on his laptop. On the sofa, Yolanda and Naomi were sitting face to face, giggling and playing around, sneaking kisses every now and then.
Every so often, Charles would look up from his laptop, his gaze gentle and full of warmth as he watched the two of them.
Teresa stood on the crowded street, letting her injured right arm hang at her side, not daring to move it at all.

The warmth inside that restaurant was a sharp contrast to her own sorry state. Teresa could only taste bitterness and sadness in her heart.
After hesitating for a moment, Teresa took out her phone and, struggling with her left hand, slowly typed out a message: [Is the divorce agreement ready?]
After sending the message, Teresa looked back through the restaurant window at Charles, Yolanda, and Naomi.
Charles wasn’t paying any attention to his phone or laptop. All his focus was on Yolanda and Naomi; his eyes were gentle, and the smile on his face was warm and genuine.
Right then, the three of them looked like a real family.
Charles still hadn’t replied, and Teresa was running out of patience. She figured she might as well head back to Brocade Villa and retrieve the divorce agreement she’d put together herself.
After all, a divorce was a divorce; her version of the agreement would do just as well.
When Teresa got out of the taxi at Brocade Villa, Barbara looked genuinely surprised. “Mrs. Logan, you’re back? I didn’t expect to see you tonight.
Teresa skipped the pleasantries and went straight for it. “Barbara, where’s that file I gave you before? Where did you put it?”
Barbara hurried to explain, “Mrs. Logan, Mr. Logan asked me about that agreement a couple of days ago. Honestly, I’m getting old and forgetting things all the time.
“When you gave it to me, I accidentally lost track of it. But Mr. Logan told me to look for it, and I finally found it. I’ll go grab it for you right now.”
Now Teresa understood why Charles hadn’t signed the papers yet. If Barbara hadn’t been so scatterbrained, they probably would’ve been divorced by now.
It didn’t take long for Barbara to come back with the agreement, the folder already gathering dust.
“Mr. Logan kept reminding me to send it over, but I kept forgetting, so I never got around to it,” Barbara admitted.
Teresa took the file and said, “Barbara, I’ll deliver it.”
