Teresa stood still, her gaze fixed on Charles’s face. The face she used to think about day and night was right in front of her, but now, her heart didn’t even stir.
Hearing Charles’s question, Teresa gave a self–mocking laugh. After a long pause, she finally replied, “Charles, we’re nothing like a real couple. Maybe it’s time we set each other free.”
Charles looked lost for a moment. He glanced down at Teresa and asked seriously, “Then what does it mean to be a real couple?”
Teresa had no idea what was going through his mind, but she said, “You and Naomi are more like a real couple.”
She started to walk away, but after a second, she turned back to Charles and said, “Oh, and I hate to bruise your ego, but you really only last three minutes in bed.”
Charles’s face darkened, his eyes turning cold and dangerous. He grabbed Teresa’s hand and demanded angrily, “What, you’ve slept with someone else now?”
Teresa looked him straight in the eye, completely unashamed. “Even if I have, so what? Charles, we’re about to get divorced anyway.”
With that, she pulled her hand free and walked away without looking back.
Charles watched Teresa walk away, his gaze shifting with mixed emotions. Something in his chest twisted uncomfortably.
“Three minutes? No way that’s all I’ve got,‘ he thought.
Teresa left Brocade Villa and drove back to the Sullivan Mansion. She couldn’t calm herself down the whole way.
When the car stopped at a red light, she suddenly heard the sound of a car door opening. She turned to see George, looking worn out and haggard.
Teresa snapped to attention, her tone dropping cold and low. “Get out,” she growled.
George didn’t move. He turned to face her, glaring with eyes fierce and menacing. “Where’s Wendy? Where is she?”
Teresa answered without hesitation, “I don’t know.”
George’s eyes flashed with anger. “She moved out and won’t answer my calls. Was it you who
put her up to this?”
Teresa met his gaze calmly. “Why do you think she left? Why do you think she broke up with you? Don’t you already know the answer?”
Wendy and George had been together for eight years. Wendy gave everything for him without complaint, even putting up with his affairs and all the mess that came with them. She even went through an abortion because of him.
For years, Wendy kept waiting for George to propose, but all she got was him cheating on her again and again, and disappointment after disappointment.
George wasn’t having any of it. He roared, “But she forgave me. She said she wouldn’t be mad. She said she’d marry me.
“So where is she now? Teresa, if you hadn’t egged her on, would she have run away and stopped answering my calls?”
Teresa scoffed, her voice dripping with sarcasm, “Have you ever stopped to think about your own issues? You’re a total scumbag. She’s got every right to dump you.”
George didn’t want to hear another word. He barked, “Shut up.”
Teresa fell silent, her tone steady and unflinching. “Please get out.”
George’s bloodshot eyes bore into her. His voice was low and rough. “Take me to her.”
Teresa shot him down again, “Absolutely not. I’m never taking you to her.”
As soon as Teresa finished speaking, George suddenly reached out and grabbed her throat.

Chapter 131
His face contorted with rage, his voice icy and threatening. “Take me to her, or I’ll kill you myself.”
Teresa gripped his hand, desperately trying to break free. When she couldn’t, and felt the air slipping away, she quickly reached for the horn and slammed it.
No one even glanced at the car, no matter how loud the horn blared in the silent night at the green light.
Seeing Teresa still refusing to give in, George tightened his grip and roared, “Are you going to take me to her or not?”
Her face was flushed, veins standing out, and it felt like her eyes might burst from the pressure.
Death was closing in, suffocating her, but even then, she wouldn’t give up Wendy’s secret.
A few minutes later, as she started to come to, a furious voice tore through the night. “Get lost.”
George was clearly getting the worst of it. As he made his escape, he still shouted back, “Just you wait, Teresa.”
Troy’s voice was thick with threat as he snarled, “Lay a finger on my woman again, I fucking dare you.”
Teresa slumped back against the seat, turning her head to find Troy standing by the passenger door. His right hand was tucked behind his back, and his eyes were locked onto her, unblinking.
Teresa caught his silence, gave a small, tight smile. “Thanks,” she said.
Troy kept his hand hidden behind his back, blood smeared across his palm. He didn’t want Teresa to see it. He didn’t want her to be reminded of painful memories.
But seeing how forced her smile was, Troy snapped, “Teresa, if you really want to thank me, then make good on your promise already.”
Teresa looked baffled, her brows knitting together. “What?”
Troy’s anger flared even more. He turned away and snorted, “Figure it out yourself.”
With that, he turned and walked away without a second thought, climbing into his own car.
Teresa caught sight of a woman sitting in the passenger seat of Troy’s car through the rearview mirror.
The woman was jaw–droppingly beautiful, with long, curly hair tumbling over her shoulders and a purple dress hugging a sexy waist.
She was the kind of knockout you almost never see; both her looks and her vibe were out of this world.
As the car rolled past, Teresa caught a glimpse of Troy’s hand resting on the woman’s thigh.
It wasn’t until the car had completely disappeared that Teresa just smiled faintly.
From the very beginning, no matter what Troy said or did, Teresa always knew he was only interested in her for the thrill or whatever advantage he could get.
When he called her baby or got her birthday gifts, it was all just part of his game.
Troy was known for being a player; no way he’d ever settle down for just one woman.
After pulling herself together, Teresa locked the car and drove all the way back to the Sullivan Mansion without stopping.

Chapter 131
Once she got home, she wasted no time and dialed Wendy’s number right away. “Hey Wendy, has George tried to contact you recently?”
Wendy said, “Yeah, he’s been after me nonstop. He even threatened to kill himself if I didn’t go see him, and sent me a digital will.”
Teresa listened, her heart heavy with worry, and told Wendy everything that had happened tonight.
Wendy was super anxious. “He actually tried to hurt you? Teresa, are you alright?”
Teresa reassured her she was fine, then said, “Why not stay at my place for a while?”
God knew what George might pull next, with the way he is.
Wendy thought about it for a second, then shook her head. “Teresa, I’m honestly doing fine. Living solo, sometimes I just film a vlog or two–life feels pretty full.”
Wendy was a food blogger; she just shot cooking videos at home, did a bit of editing, and uploaded them online to earn her living.
She had all the freedom she wanted, but for eight years straight, George kept her tied down.
Teresa didn’t insist, just told Wendy to be careful.
When they were about to hang up, Wendy suddenly said, “There’s an event tomorrow. Come with me?”
Teresa was worried about her, so she agreed. “Yeah.”
“Catch you tomorrow,” Wendy said with a smile.
