When She Walks Away (Teresa) novel Chapter 235

Chapter 235

Troy watched as Teresa pulled the blanket over herself.

He knew she wasn’t really trying to sleep; she just simply didn’t want to keep talking to him.

So Troy chose not to expose her little act and just played along.

But as she lay there, Teresa ended up dozing off anyway.

Troy started to feel sleepy too, so he just leaned over and napped by the side of the hospital bed.

After two hours had passed, a sudden, urgent ringtone snapped both Teresa and Troy awake at the same time.

Realizing it was her phone, Teresa fumbled around, reaching for it.

Troy was already holding her phone; as he handed it over, Teresa’s fingers brushed lightly against his skin.

Even that fleeting touch left Troy’s heart all tangled up.

Once Teresa had the phone in her hand, she saw Hector’s name flashing on the screen.

She picked up and greeted softly, “Hi, Hector.”

His tone was full of worry. “One of my colleagues told me you took some time off from work.”

Teresa kept it brief. “I’m just a little under the weather, so I took a break. Really, it’s nothing you need to worry about, Hector.”

Hector still sounded worried. “Where are you? I want to come see you.”

Teresa didn’t want to bother him. “Hector, I’m already feeling a lot better.”

Hector didn’t push her, just asked tentatively, “So, are you still going to Professor Judd’s dinner tomorrow?

Professor Judd’s dinner had been planned ahead of time, but got delayed since Cedric’s been so busy.

Without even thinking, Teresa replied, “Yeah, I’ll be there.”

Even though she hadn’t gotten into grad school yet, Cedric had given her the courage to take this step.

There was no way Teresa would miss Professor Judd’s dinner, no matter what.

Hearing her say she’d be there, Hector chuckled. “Alright, I’ll swing by to pick you up tomorrow afternoon.”

Teresa nodded. “That’d be greatsorry to trouble you, Hector.”

Hector replied, “It’s no trouble at all. I’m happy to do it for you.”

Teresa paused for a moment, but before she could say anything else, Hector had already hung up.

Maybe he just didn’t want to give her a chance to politely turn him down.

After putting her phone away, Teresa caught the burning look Troy was giving her.

She glanced over at him, a little confused. “What is it?

Troy narrowed his eyes. “You’re really going to that dinner party tomorrow night?”

Teresa nodded “Yeah.”

Hearing her answer, Troy immediately snapped. “Are you just going to ignore your own health?”

Teresa met his gaze, patiently explaining. Honestly, a couple days of rest and I’ll be fine. It’s nothing serious.”

Troy frowned, anxiety written all over las face. “You really want to go through with having this baby?”

Troy had the whole situation wrong from the very beginning

He just thought she was in the maternity ward either trying to save her pregnancy, or maybe she’d had a miscarriage.

The only reason he even showed up at the hospital was because he just couldn’t stop worrying about her.

But these past couple of days, he hadn’t even bothered to check her medical chart or look at the info posted at the end of her bed.

Now that she said she was still going to that dinner tomorrow, Troy couldn’t help but feel a knot of anxiety forming in his chest.

Teresa caught the seriousness on his face and blurted out, “Troy, I’m not pregnant anymore. Actually–I was, but I lost the baby a long time ago.”

At this hour, Richard was already in bed, fast asleep.

As Charles stepped inside, he was taken aback to spot a shadowy figure sitting on the living room couch.

Looking closerit was Andrew.

When Andrew heard the footsteps, he swung his head around. The moment he saw it was Charles, a grin finally appearedone he hadn’t shown in ages.

Andrew jumped to his feet, giving a respectful, “Big Bro, you’re back!”

Charles took one look at him and it was obvious Andrew was here to ask for a favor. He didn’t bother with small talk, just cut straight in, “Alright then, what do you want this time?

Charles frowned in confusion. What happened to her? Did she just disappear?”

Andrew thought for a moment, then nodded. “Yeah, kind of.”

Charles looked even more perplexed lowering his voice. “Seriously, what’s going ou

Andrew shrank back at Charles’s stern tone, then admitted sheepishly, “It’s probably Troy.”

Charles blinked, still puzzled. “You really think it was him?”

That was when Andrew finally broke down. He grabbed Charles’s hands, then slowly slid down to the floor, his knees slamming into the ground with a heavy thud.

And then, as if punishing himself, Andrew raised his hands and smacked himself hard across the face–twice in a row.

Charles just watched, completely baffled, having no clue what Andrew was doing.

When Andrew finally stopped, he suddenly grabbed Charles’s hand and pressed it to his own cheek, practically begging, “Bro, I’m garbage. Just slap me. Come on, hit me–beat me if you want.”

Charles couldn’t make heads or tails of any of this, his brain filled with question marks. He demanded sharply, “Seriously, what the hell is going on here?”

Andrew couldn’t keep it in any longer, so he finally spilled everything.

After what happened to Stella, Andrew had been turning it over in his mind. Even though Troy wasn’t actually there that day, if he wanted someone hurt, he never had to do it himself. wanted

And ever since Stella was slashed with a knife that day, she hadn’t shown up anywhere.

It was easy to imagine that she was probably still suffering some kind of hellish torture right now.

After hours of agonizing over it, Andrew finally decided to come to Charles for help.

Andrew stayed kneeling there, eyes red and teary, choking out the whole story to Charlesconfessing how Stella had laid hands on Teresa that day.

As the confession ended, a storm cloud rolled over Charles’s face. He glared daggers at Andrew, fuming so much he couldn’t even get a word out.

But when he finally got up, Charles let loose with a vicious kick and snapped, “She’s your sister–in–law no matter what! And you actually went along with outsiders to gang up on her–beat her? Andrew, are you sick of living or just stupid?”
