Chapter 236
Andrew was kicked so hard he landed flat on the floor, a sharp pain tightening his brow.
When he saw the fury burning in Charles‘ eyes, a wave of panic and dread seized him.
He didn’t dare make a sound, only meeting Charles‘ gaze with desperate, pleading eyes.
Charles didn’t answer. Without a word, he snatched his coat from the sofa and strode out of the study in silence.

Andrew scrambled up from the floor, staggering a few steps after Charles. “Charles, you’re the only one who can help me now,” he begged, desperation thick in his voice.
Charles didn’t say a word, striding purposefully downstairs without so much as a backward glance.
At the front door of the villa, Charles slipped into his car. Once he’d gotten Teresa’s hospital address from Liam, he sped off without hesitation.
As he drove, Charles was troubled, thoughts weighing heavily on his mind.
Whenever he recalled Teresa collapsing and how weak she looked when she woke up in the hospital, he couldn’t help but feel guilty.
She’d been so fragile, yet that night she was beaten for no reason at all.
That evening. Teresa first had a confrontation with Charles, and then Stella hit her.
Just thinking about it made Charles feel like he couldn’t breathe.
At that moment, guilt gnawed at him.
He kept thinking, ‘If I hadn’t left the hospital that day… If I’d just stayed with her, maybe none of this would have happened, the regret twisting in his chest.
Charles forced himself not to dwell on it–because the more he did, the more suffocating that guilt became.
Halfway there, Charles‘ phone rang. While waiting at a red light, he glanced down at the screen–it was Liam.
He answered, and Liam’s voice came through, urgent. “Mr. Logan, we just lost the development rights to a construction site. You need to come to the office.”

Charles frowned, his mind torn. After a moment of hesitation, he finally replied, “Alright, I’ll be there.”
After hanging up, Charles glanced at his GPS. He was less than ten minutes from Teresa’s hospital, but it’d be over an hour to get to his
office.
Even so, Charles turned the car around, forcing himself to head back to the company.
When Charles arrived at the office, several senior executives were already there.
Liam stepped forward. “Mr. Logan, I’ve checked into it. Leo Gilbert is the one who took the development rights.”
Charles frowned in disbelief. “Isn’t he in the restaurant business? How did he manage to break into the construction field?”
Liam shook his head. “I don’t know.”
Charles mulled it over, then just waved it off. “Whatever, let them take it. Not a big deal–we’ll get the handover done, that’s all.
Liam said, “Yeah, that’s what we figured too. Still, there’s a mountain of paperwork that needs you to go through, Mr. Logan.”
Charles knew there was no escaping any time soon, so he relented. “Alright, fine.”
Sp Charles worked overtime all the way until morning, never leaving the office.
He didn’t sleep at all, his eyes red and burning from exhaustion.
It was only when the sun came up that he was furally close to finishing

Liam brought over some breakfast, and after grabbing a quick bite, Charles wrapped up the last of his work.
By the time he was finished, it was already close to ten o’clock.

With Teresa still on his mind, Charles headed straight for the hospital.
By the time Charles finally got to the hospital, he found out Teresa had already been discharged earlier that morning.
The nurse said, “She just left not long ago–must have been about an hour back.”
After leaving the hospital, Charles slid into the driver’s seat. Not hesitating for a second, he whipped out his phone and dialed Teresa’s number.
The call picked up in a flash, and Charles fired off straight away, “Where are you?”
His voice was hoarse and deep from an all–nighter, with an edge of frustration leaking through.
But instead of Teresa, a smug male voice answered, “She’s sleeping.”
Troy couldn’t care less. He smirked and shot back, “How is that any of your business?”
They were already going through the divorce, smack in the middle of the cooling–off period, but for some reason, he just couldn’t get rid of this gnawing discomfort inside.
His mind was spinning with restless thoughts when his phone rang again.
He half–expected it to be Teresa calling him back, but when he glanced at the screen, it turned out to be Naomi instead.
Charles let a beat pass before finally picking up, his voice a bit weary, Naomi.”
After pausing for a moment, she ventured, “Professor Judd’s throwing a dinner party tonight. Would you come with me?”
Charles didn’t even hesitate before replying, “Sure.”
They talked a little longer, mostly with Naomi asking about how Yolanda was doing.
Barbara nodded. ‘You and Mrs. Logan haven’t been back in ages”

Charles felt a pang of sadness at her words.

He remembered how Teresa used to look after everything for him whenever he came back to Brocade Villa.
But now, she was no longer here.
Thinking about it, Charles murmured softly, “Yeah, it’s been a while since I was last here.”
Charles lifted his head and looked around. It was almost as if nothing had changed since yesterday.

But deep down, he knew things weren’t the same anymore. The place was unchanged, but the people–and everything they meant- were gone.
Barbara looked at Charles with a soft sigh and said, “Mrs. Logan used to come back all the time too, but these days… well…”
Not wanting to linger on the subject, Charles simply said, “I’m going to catch up on some sleep. Please wake me at four.”
Barbara nodded gently. “Of course.”
Sullivan Mansion.
Troy was sitting on the living room sofa, having just ended his call with Charles, when Theodore walked in carrying bags of groceries.
Seeing him, Troy quickly put away his phone and got up to help. “Hey, let me get those for you.”
Theodore didn’t hand anything over. He just shot Troy a cold look and said, “No, I’ve got it. You just go sit.”
Theodore and Yvonne hustled around to get Teresa discharged from the hospital.
Once everything was done, Yvonne smiled at Troy, “Thanks for taking care of Teresa. Come have lunch at Sullivan Mansion with us?”
Lunch at Sullivan Mansion? Troy was all for it. He agreed right away, not even needing to think.
But while some were happy to have him around, others clearly weren’t.
Theodore, for one, made it obvious he wasn’t happy to have Troy at Sullivan Mansion.
