When Troy heard the nurse say Rose had woken up, he didn’t waste another second arguing with Hector–he hurried off without looking back.

Teresa watched Troy’s retreating figure and actually felt relieved he was gone.

‘If Troy had kept hanging around, who knows what else Hector would have blurted out, she thought to herself.

She gently pulled her hand back and took a step away from Hector. “Hector, I should head back now,” she told him.

Hector stood up. “Let me walk you out.”

Teresa instinctively shook her head. “Why don’t you get some rest, Hector? I can go back by myself.”

But Hector insisted, “I just wouldn’t feel right if you walked alone. Please, let me see you off.”

‘If I don’t let him come with me, he probably won’t even let me leave, Teresa thought, finally giving in.

Hector walked Teresa to the Sullivan Mansion before finally driving off.

He didn’t say anything else before leaving.

Teresa felt a wave of relief–at least he hadn’t tried to start another awkward conversation.

When she got back to the mansion, the place was empty except for the servants.

Teresa felt completely drained, so she headed straight upstairs.

After a quick shower, she just wanted to crash and get some sleep.

But just as she was about to fall asleep, her phone started ringing.

She picked up without hesitation, not bothering to check who it was.

“Hello,” Teresa murmured, her voice still hoarse with sleep.

Monica’s urgent voice burst through the line. “Aunt Teresa, Yoyo fell down! She’s conscious, but she can’t seem to stand up!”

In a split second, Teresa’s drowsiness vanished completely.

She bounced off her bed, wide awake and ready to move.

She rushed out to her car and sped off to the kindergarten.

When she arrived, a bunch of kids were standing around, pointing at her. “Yolanda’s family is here!” one of them shouted.

Teresa didn’t bother to explain her identity–she walked straight inside.

The kids quickly stepped aside when they saw an adult coming.

Yolanda wasn’t unconscious, but she was lying on the ground, sobbing her eyes out.

A few teachers were standing nearby, looking worried but not daring to touch her.

Without hesitation, and forgetting about her recent surgery, Teresa scooped Yolanda up in her arms and strode out of the school.

In the cab on the way over, Teresa couldn’t stop worrying about Yolanda.

She gently squeezed Yolanda’s fingers and asked, “Does it hurt? Can you feel this?”

Yolanda was crying her heart out, but she shook her head and said. “It doesn’t hurt, it’s just numb.”

Even though she was nestled in her mother’s arms. Yolanda still answered all of Teresa’s questions obediently.

Hearing this, Teresa felt a pang of anxiety squeeze her heart.

Out of sheer worry, Teresa told the driver to hurry.

Yolanda snuggled closer and muttered, “Mommy, my tummy hurts, and my head hurts too.”

When Teresa heard her daughter say that, she felt even more flustered and at a loss.

Soon enough, the taxi arrived at the hospital.

Teresa jumped out with Yolanda in her arms and sprinted toward the Emergency Department, not even bothering to pay the driver.

Since she was a pediatric surgeon herself, Teresa followed right into the emergency room as Yolanda was brought in.

After a round of tests and X–rays, there wasn’t a scratch on Yolanda–she was totally fine.

But Teresa, still worried she might’ve missed something, asked the nurse to draw blood and check her blood pressure and sugar levels.

Yolanda could hear the doctors chatting, but she kept on saying, “Mommy, I feel like I’m gonna throw up, and my head really hurts!”

Before the doctors could even wrap their heads around that suggestion, Yolanda suddenly blurted out in a panic, “Mommy, can we just go home now?”

When she finally reacted, a sharp pain tore through her abdomen, making her let out a muffled groan.

Hearing that sound, Yolanda looked over, momentarily confused.

But seeing the pain twisted all over Teresa’s face, she actually looked even prouder of herself. “Serves you right! You’d be better off dead anyway!”

Teresa snapped at her daughter. “Who taught you to talk like that?”

Yolanda jabbed a finger right at Teresa, firing back, “You. You’re the one who taught me!”

Teresa’s anger boiled over–she lashed out and tried to slap Yolanda again.

But this time, Yolanda nimbly dodged her mother’s hand.

Teresa struck out with all her might, lost her balance, and stumbled forward.

Her stomach slammed into the edge of the bed.

By the time Teresa stood up again, sweat was pouring down her face from the pain.

Yolanda saw her mom clutching her stomach in pain. But instead of showing even a hint of sympathy, she got up on the bed and kicked Teresa right in the belly.

Teresa instantly went weak all over, feeling like she was about to crumple to the floor.

At that moment, someone pushed open the door to the emergency room from outside.

Before Teresa could even get a look at who it was, Yolanda jumped off the bed and dashed straight into the newcomer’s arms.

Charles scooped Yolanda up. She grabbed his face with both hands and pouted, “Daddy, Mommy hit me!”

Charles turned his head to glance at Teresa, standing there off to the side.

After a short silence, he asked Teresa, “Why did you hit her?”

Teresa snorted. “Sometimes I really regret having her.”

Obviously, she was talking about Yolanda.

Charles caught the bitterness in her tone and kept his voice low. “What’s the point of saying something like that?”
