When She Walks Away (Teresa) novel Chapter 62

Chapter 62

As soon as Troy stepped up to the stage, Teresa felt a wave of panic. She couldn’t hold back and shouted, “Troy, what are you doing? Get down!

Charles and Naomi both heard her panicked shout.

Troy heard her too, but without hesitation, he just walked up on stage and took the microphone from the auctioneer.

Standing on the stage, Troy raised an eyebrow at the audience and said, “I bid 40 million. Anyone else want to raise the bid? If so, I will add an additional five million on top of whatever you bid.”

Troy’s words were clear–no matter how much it cost, he was determined to buy the bracelet.

Down below, Teresa’s heart twisted with anxiety.

Charles Logan was no easy opponent, and with Naomi desiring the item so badly, Troy’s provocation was clear–he was challenging Charles to the very end.

But if they kept this up, both sides would only end up hurting each other. It was all pointless, but Teresa couldn’t stop Troy. She could only helplessly watch as everything unfolded.

Troy had forced Charles into a corner, and the crowd began whispering.

Some speculated that Charles, with his wealth and power, would definitely match the bid. Others thought it was a bad move, that he might stop bidding before things got out of hand.

Naomi, though still calm, had her hands slick with sweat. If Charles didn’t bid again, she would lose to Teresa.

It was a battle between the men, but beneath the surface, it was just as much about the rivalry between Teresa and Naomi.

Almost everyone in the room was waiting to see what Charles would do next.”

The auctioneer started the countdown, and when the final gavel hit, Charles didn’t raise the bid.

The result was clear, and the room murmured. Though it was the right decision for Charles, some people thought that with his status, he shouldn’t have backed down so easily.

Charles paid no attention to the whispers. He remained seated, his gaze fixed on Troy on stage.

Naomi, seeing that Charles had given up bidding, felt a tightness in her chest. Although she was uncomfortable, she remained silent. If she was going to lose, she’d do it with grace. Besides, she didn’t think Charles had done anything wrong.

Teresa, sitting next to her, might have won this silent competition, but inside, she felt even more uneasy. She sat still, but her back felt icy cold.

After getting off the stage, Troy returned to his seat. Seeing Teresa lost in thought, he leaned in and asked, “Are you upset?

Teresa didn’t answer right away. She looked at Troy and asked, “Should we get ready to leave?

Troy twirled a strand of Teresa’s hair around his finger, leaning closer and teasing, “What’s the matter? Can’t wait to head to the hotel with me?”

Teresa’s face flushed bright red. She glared at him, but said nothing, her anger clear in her eyes.

Just then, the host announced that the auction would continue.

Troy knew full well why Teresa was upset with him, but he just acted like nothing was wrong.

Since the auction wasn’t over, Teresa couldn’t leave. She had no choice but to stay in her seat.

Seeing that she was upset, Troy lost interest in the auction.

The rest of the auction wrapped up in a blur, and once it was done, the waiters ushered the big shots into another hall the hall was sert up with wine, champagne, fruit, desserts, and appetizers.

Troy led Teresa into the hall, where they were immediately surrounded by a group of people

“Mr. Hamilton, who’s this beautiful lady? Not even going to introduce her to us? What, are you afraid we’ll steal her away?” one of them

joked.

Troy was famous in their circle for being a bit of a player. No matter which woman was by his side, he’d always call her his girl. They’d heard it all before, so they weren’t surprised.

“So tell us, what does your girl do?” one of them teased.

Troy, who was usually indifferent and playful, found his sincere words dismissed as a joke. Though it stung, he couldn’t really blame them–he had built that reputation.

As soon as he said that, everyone started chiming in with praise. “Wow, a doctor? That’s really impressive.”

Their compliments were insincere, all for show, Businessmen like them didn’t really care about doctors. A doctor’s salary could never compare to their income.

Troy didn’t get upset. Instead, he turned to look at Teresa, who had been quiet this whole time, and said, “All that flattery sounds fake, but it doesn’t matter. I really do think she’s incredible.

His words were so sincere, and the look on his face was genuine.

But in the next moment, the people surrounding Troy started laughing. No one could tell if they were genuinely amused or if they found Troy being too serious for once.

But Troy’s lips didn’t twitch even once. He stared intently at Teresa, as if trying to tell her that he wasn’t just speaking for show. His gaze remained fixed on her, silently waiting for her acknowledgment.

Teresa, now panicking slightly, nudged his arm and asked, “Should we leave now?

Troy’s seriousness unseuled her further, and she desperately hoped he was just joking.

Locked in their silent stare, Teresa’s anxiety grew. Just as she was about to turn and leave, Troy finally said, “It’s still early. There’s a photo session coming up.

Teresa’s heart, pounding in her chest, finally calmed down a little. She was still uneasy, but at least she felt better. She looked at Troy, still nervous, and said, “Alright, then.”

Since she was already here, she decided to fulfill her promise to stay for the party with Troy. After all, she did owe him

At that moment, a sweet, soothing piano melody echoed from the auction hall.

Teresa froze when she heard it. She instantly recognized that Naomi was playing the piano.

The sound of the music caught everyone’s attention, drawing them into the auction hall

The hallway was crowded, and Troy, worried Teresa might get bumped quickly pulled her close, protesting her at his sile.

Meanwhile, the crowd began to gossip.

“Isn’t that the woman Mr. Logan always takes with him?” one whispered.

“Yes, that’s her. Mr. Logan’s totally taken with her, takes her everywhere,” another replied.

“Honestly, she’s got this graceful vibe, and she’s so talented. No wonder Mr. Logan’s into her,” a third person added.

Charles stood by the stage, eyes closed, fully enjoying the music, completely ignoring the noise around him.

But to everyone else, it looked like a public display of affection between him and Naomi.
