Only a few hours had passed since the surgery, but when Nathaniel opened his eyes again, it felt as if an entire century had gone by.

Yet his body was gradually regaining its strength, and everything seemed to be moving in a positive direction.

However, there was one person missing by his side.

Nathaniel couldn’t help but grab a nurse who was changing his dressing and ask, “Do you know where the girl who brought me here for surgery, Genevieve, went?”

“She’s my girlfriend. She should be here with me at a time like this. Why haven’t I seen her all day? Did something happen to her?”

The nurse seemed to remember something and suddenly slapped her forehead.

“Mr. Weston, Ms. Kershaw left with Mr. Mueller right after you entered the operating room. She also entrusted a nurse with a letter, saying that if you asked about her after waking up, we should give it to you. I’ll go get it now!”

The nurse hurried away, but Nathaniel was left with countless questions swirling in his mind.

“Genevieve, how can you just give up whenever you want? How can you start over just because you wish to? I’ve loved you for so many years, loved you so deeply–what am I to you, really?”

“I truly regret it, and I know I was wrong. No matter how you wanted to take revenge, I never resisted. What more do you want? Wouldn’t it be better if we just kept being entangled like this forever?”

He screamed until his voice was hoarse, but only the air responded to him.

Endless remorse nearly drowned him completely
