You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 129

“What are you doing? Let me out! I’m not crazy!”

“Who told you to lock me up? Was it Kelly? Was it that woman, Kelly?”

Inside the psych ward, Greg was pinned to the bed as a nurse jabbed a sedative into his arm. The doctors and nurses looked straight through him, their faces blank and cold, like characters from some horror game. Not a hint of real feeling.

Greg fought against their grip, but his strength faded fast. His vision blurred, and the ceiling above him swam until his eyes finally slid shut.

A breeze drifted in from the window, making the white curtains billow gently. It rustled the crisp shirt of the man standing by the bed.

Out in the yard, Theo stood with his phone pressed to his ear, listening to the distant noise on the other end. He didn’t wait for anyone to speak—he just ended the call. His grip on the phone was so tight the veins stood out on the back of his hand.

If he hadn’t just gotten back and needed to keep things quiet, that man wouldn’t have survived the night it rained. He had to watch himself—he still had a fight ahead with Patricia, and he needed every advantage he could get.

This time, he wanted to see who would come out on top.

“Why are you standing out here?” Kelly came home and found Theo outside, his face set and his eyes sharp and cold as the night.

Theo slipped his phone into his pocket, acting like it was nothing. “Just needed some air. Where’d you go?”

“Took Grandma for a walk. She ran into a couple of old friends and got caught up chatting, so I headed back first.” Kelly watched him for a moment, then seemed to decide on something. “Did you see Patricia?”

“Not yet.”

“She’s at Martin Group now. Ruby brought her into the planning team.”

Theo looked surprised. “How’d you find out?”

“I played mahjong this afternoon with Mrs. Zhao from Eastside—her uncle’s a Martin Group shareholder.” Kelly gave a knowing look. “Riverdale’s upper circle is tiny. News travels fast.”

“She came back for Martin Group, didn’t she?”
