You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 188

“Isn’t Mr. Newton supposed to be too proud to bend down? If you’re really that tough, then just leave those photos on the ground.”

But with the Newton family’s whole future on the line, Theo didn’t have a choice. He still bent down to pick them up.

Even then, he tried to save face. “They’re just some photos. If you were actually confident, you’d go straight to the prosecutor’s office.”

Patricia shot him a bored, icy look.

She wasn’t about to waste another second on someone like him. “Jackson, let’s go.”

The town car pulled away. Patricia didn’t even bother going back upstairs.

When the car finally disappeared at the parking lot exit, Theo crouched down and picked up the scattered photos.

He stood there gripping them, his fingers turning white with anger.

“Patricia…”

“Patricia…”

He whispered her name like a curse, so bitter it made his chest ache.

If only she’d just disappear.

He pulled out his lighter and set the photos on fire. When they were nothing but ash, he crushed them under his expensive shoes and walked away.

In a dark corner, someone sat in a black BMW and watched everything.

Joseph raked a hand through his hair and glanced at Nina in the passenger seat. “So, do you feel better now?”

Nina’s gaze was steady and unreadable. “Why would you ever think Theo and Patricia could get back together?”

Joseph frowned. “What do you mean?”

She finally looked over, her voice sharp enough to cut. “When Theo slept with me, he called out Patricia’s name.”

She let out a short, bitter laugh. “He was drunk, mumbling, acting like he was in love. Even when he kissed me, he was so much gentler than usual.”

“It’s always me chasing after him. But that night, when he thought I was Patricia, he knelt at my feet, kissed my legs. Do you know how that made me feel, Joseph?”

He was quiet for a moment. “If it hurts that much, then break up with him. He’s not the only guy out there.”

Nina suddenly laughed, tears glimmering in her eyes. “Aren’t you the one who wanted me to stay with him?”
