Chapter 19
Nathaly didn’t dare to think too much. She grabbed Eleanor and rushed into the car, not caring about anything else. She stepped on the gas and sped away.
On the way, Eleanor didn’t dare to speak, but from the worried and understanding look in her eyes, Nathaly knew she had probably guessed what was going on.
But Elijah was a madman.
To avoid dragging her family into this mess, Nathaly could only keep silent.
After dropping Eleanor off at home, Nathaly dashed back to her own place without a word and began packing her luggage.
She couldn’t stay in this city any longer. She had to buy a plane ticket and leave immediately.
While she was packing, the doorbell rang downstairs.
Nathaly, startled like a frightened bird, grabbed an empty vase and hurried downstairs. When she opened the door, she found it was Quinten.
He looked worried. “I rushed back as soon as I got a call from my mom. Are you alright? Did something happen? Tell me, we’ll solve it together.”
Nathaly was already so scared that she was completely flustered.
Quinten’s deep voice graduall
soothed her anxious and terrified heart.
She realized it belatedly.
Yes, she couldn’t live a life of hiding and running forever.
So what if Elijah found her? She was no longer burger girl Nathaly.
She had her own identity and friends in this country.
Her emotions gradually calmed down, and she decided to tell the truth.
“My ex-husband did many things to hurt me. I chose to leave him, but today I found out he has found me.”
As soon as Nathaly finished speaking, Quinten’s face darkened instantly. He said indignantly, “Give me his photo. I’ll have my colleagues and friends at the police station keep a close watch. Don’t worry, with us here, we won’t let any- one hurt you!”
At some point, Lina had appeared at Quinten’s feet, grinning with her

That one sentence made Nathaly laugh and finally put her mind at ease.
This wasn’t America; Elijah couldn’t do as he pleased.
What surprised Nathaly was that the scenario she imagined-Elijah forcibly taking her back to his country-never happened.
For nearly half a month after discovering Elijah, it was as if he had vanished into thin air again.
But a woman’s intuition kept warning Nathaly.
Somehow, in places she couldn’t see, Elijah seemed to always be there.
Like a drop of water merging into the sea, Nathaly’s life returned to peace once more.
Recently, many new residents had moved into the community, including quite a few Asian faces.
Nathaly enjoyed taking walks every day. The community was large, and the temperature at noon was just right.
After lunch, she would jog around the community.
One day, as she passed by the home of a newly moved-in resident, she saw an elderly man who had fallen beside a pile of luggage, his face contorted in pain as he called out to her for help.
“Young lady, please help me. I think I twisted my back.”
Out of the principle of helping each other while living abroad,
Nathaly called an ambulance, sent the elderly man to the hospital for emergency treatment, and urgently contacted his daughter and son-in-law, who were at work.
Unexpectedly, the daughter and son-in-law arrived nearly four hours late, refused to pay the medical bills, and even accused Nathaly of having hit the old man.
“If you didn’t hit him, why were you so eager to take him to the hospital?”
Nathaly had dealt with such scoundrels before. She knew they were trying to avoid paying the medical bills, so she didn’t bother explaining and simply took out her phone to call the police.
But the son-in-law slapped the phone out of her hand.
“What are you trying to do? Are you going to accuse us first?”
Nathaly was helpless. “Sir, please understand, I kindly brought your mother-in-law to the hospital and even paid the medical bills in advance. I did not hit her. If you insist on making trouble, then I will have to call the police.”
Unexpectedly, Nathaly’s firm attitude intimidated the man instantly.
But soon he put on an arrogant and domineering air, looking down his nose at Nathaly and mocking her, “Do you know who I am? Do you know that I invested in this hospital? If you go against me, you’ll be out of this community by tonight!”

As soon as the man finished speaking, a group of fierce-looking bodyguards arrived at the hospital.
Seeing the man’s smug expression, Nathaly could guess these bodyguards were hired by him.
Nathaly was unwilling to compromise. The police she had called would arrive soon.
The man also wanted to resolve the issue before the police arrived.
So, in front of everyone, he waved at the bodyguards.
“Make her change her story.”
The bodyguards started walking toward Nathaly.
“Let’s see who dares to touch her.” Elijah’s voice sounded calmly.
