Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 103

Willow had promised her dad she'd come home for lunch, and that evening, she had plans to meet Ablitt for dinner at a nice restaurant.

She'd already stood up her editor for a month, so there was no way she'd bail on him this time.

After a short rest at home, Willow headed to the local market and picked up some fresh ingredients, determined to cook a homemade feast for her father.

Klein had meetings at the university that morning, so when he returned for lunch, he was pleasantly surprised to find the house filled with the aroma of home-cooked food.

Over lunch, Willow shared stories from her recent "research trips" around the country, while Klein regaled her with funny moments from his classes.

After they finished eating, Klein had to rush back to campus for another meeting.

Willow hesitated to return to Cliffhaven Gardens right away, worried she might run into Beasley again. So instead, she lingered at her father's house, only heading out about an hour before her dinner with Ablitt.

At six sharp, both of them arrived at the upscale restaurant Willow had recommended.

Though they hadn't spoken in a month, Ablitt had kept up with Willow's travels through her social media posts. He naturally assumed her journeys were all about hunting for new inspiration, and as her editor, he couldn't resist bringing it up.

"Does this mean you finally have an idea for your next book?" Ablitt asked as soon as their orders were in.

Willow smiled, a little sheepishly. "I've got the beginnings of one, just working through some ideas," she replied.

The truth was, most of her inspiration didn't come from these trips at all. Usually, her creative sparks flew while she was knee-deep in her research, not wandering from city to city. But she had to keep up appearances. That meant brushing up on local customs and stories—just in case anyone asked. Sometimes her travel time was really homework time, reading or watching videos to fake the experience well enough.

Willow wasn't much of a drinker, but she didn't refuse outright. "I'm sure the wine here is great," she said, "but I can't really hold my liquor, and I'll be driving later."

Ablitt laughed. "Just a glass, to keep me company. We can always call a driver when we're done."

Willow nodded. "Alright, let's get a bottle."

They ordered a bottle of wine—one that cost well over a thousand dollars.

But when it arrived, Ablitt stopped her. "This one's on me. Don't fight me on it," he said with a smile.

He knew Willow could easily afford the bill—after all, she was the country's top-selling sci-fi author, with royalty checks that could keep her comfortable for decades. But this bottle was his gesture, a small way to show his appreciation.
