Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 124

A little after eight the next morning, Willow returned to Metropolitan Hospital for her follow-up appointment.

She saw the same clinical psychologist as last time—Dr. Harrington.

Dr. Harrington asked her carefully about how she'd been lately, the frequency of her nightmares, and how well the medication was working.

Willow said, "I tried that exposure therapy you recommended, Dr. Harrington. My reaction was a little intense."

"What kind of reaction did you have, specifically?" Dr. Harrington asked.

Willow described how she'd become dizzy and nauseous, even throwing up that day. Dr. Harrington listened calmly, without putting any pressure on her.

"The strange thing is," Willow continued, "after I woke up in the hospital, the physical nausea I felt whenever I was near that person—well, it's gotten a lot better. I mean, the physical part of it. But the disgust I feel in my mind has only gotten worse."

She hesitated, then asked, "Dr. Harrington, isn't that a contradiction?"

Dr. Harrington smiled reassuringly. "Actually, it shows the therapy is starting to work. It's helping you get back to a more normal social life. As for the disgust you feel mentally—that's just a normal reaction to someone you really dislike."

Willow nodded, taking it all in, though she wasn't entirely sure she understood. Dr. Harrington went on, "Let me give you an example. Most people who haven't experienced significant trauma might feel repulsed by someone's behavior, maybe even say things like, ‘He makes me sick,' but it's just an exaggerated way to express their feelings. Even if they're disgusted, they don't literally get sick."

"But your situation is different. You've experienced psychological trauma, and it's affected your physical responses. When you get triggered, your body reacts with real nausea and vomiting. You can't control it."

"Exactly," Willow agreed. "I really can't control it at all."

There was also the racing heart, the trembling, the anxiety that constantly gnawed at her.

Dr. Harrington smiled again. "So, the fact that you can now face your trigger and gradually adapt—without your body reacting so violently—is a good sign. It shows you're making progress."

Beasley was still in Shelbourne City. He stared at the message, frowning.

So, she went back for a follow-up?

He'd already looked into Dr. Harrington's credentials—one of the most experienced specialists in clinical psychology.

He couldn't help but recall Willow's intense reaction when he'd touched her last time. The memory left a sour taste in his mouth.

He should have been happy—he'd just signed the perfect candidate, and the Stormhawk Drones project was finally ready to launch. But instead, all he felt was a low, restless frustration.

"President Windsor?" Xander returned with their boarding passes, noticing Beasley still staring absently at his phone.
