Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 137

By the next morning, whispers about the president of Windsor & Co. embracing a mysterious, possibly pregnant woman at the hospital had all but vanished from the internet.

Instead, the headlines were dominated by news of a popular actor arrested for solicitation and drug use, and a notorious trust fund kid getting caught in a scandal of his own making. The stories quickly eclipsed yesterday's gossip, worming their way to the top of every trending page.

Rosamund had been following the online chatter closely.

When she saw the story suppressed, she assumed Beasley was behind it. Beasley, on the other hand, thought it was York's doing.

After all, York had long wanted Beasley to divorce Willow. Any tabloid story that would tie Beasley and Willow together was the last thing York wanted to see.

The last time Beasley and Rosamund were caught up in a media frenzy, Beasley had found out that York had pulled some strings.

So that morning, Beasley texted York and asked to meet at Silverton later that night.

By 7 p.m., York showed up right on time.

It had been a week since the two brothers last met. Back then, at York's new place, they'd talked for hours, clearing up a few of Beasley's lingering "misunderstandings" about York.

Tonight, Beasley wanted to return the favor—set the record straight about Willow, so York would finally stop eyeing her with suspicion, as if she were cheating.

"Project must be going well if you've got time to drag me out for drinks," York teased as he slid into the seat across from Beasley. His hands were already busy, uncorking a bottle of red and pouring two generous glasses.

Beasley rarely ever brought women along when he went out. Even at Silverton, an upscale club known for its attentive staff, he waved off the waitresses and the social hostesses. That meant simple tasks—opening the wine, pouring the drinks—fell to the men themselves.

Beasley picked up his glass, rolling the deep red liquid gently. The color shimmered, restless and unsettled.

"Things are still a mess," he said, taking a measured sip. "Headaches everywhere I look."

The words sounded like a protest, but whether he was talking to York or reassuring himself, it was hard to say.

After all, the only thing Beasley could be truly certain of was that Willow wasn't pregnant.

And that was it. Nothing more.

York stared at him, surprised. "You sure about that?"

Beasley wasn't sure at all, but he didn't say so.

"Are you really that eager to see me get played for a fool?" he shot back, his voice icy.

In the end, that was all he said.
