Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 157

"I came by tonight to tell you in person because I was worried you might hear about all this after heading home for the weekend, and I didn't want you to be caught off guard," Father Grant said, his voice gentle.

Willow lifted her gaze, handing the phone back to Father Grant. "Thank you, Father Grant. And thank you to everyone who helped handle things for me."

Father Grant shook his head. "There's no need to thank me. You're a vital asset to our country—of course we'll look out for you. But you need to be careful too, figure out who's been spreading these lies about you and trying to drag you down."

He hesitated for a moment before continuing, "And… what's your relationship with the CEO of Windsor & Co.?"

Willow understood that Father Grant was respecting her privacy by not digging into her personal affairs behind her back. Of course, she had no secrets from the state—but when it came to her private life, those details would never be made public without reason.

Now that Father Grant was asking directly, she couldn't keep it from him—especially with that video out there. Even if she wanted to, there was no hiding it anymore.

"He's my ex-husband. We divorced two months ago," Willow replied softly, her long lashes lowering as she avoided Father Grant's eyes.

"What? You two were… married?" Father Grant looked shocked.

Willow nodded. "I'll take care of things from here on out. I promise nothing like this will happen again."

Father Grant was still processing the news, but when he heard her promise, he quickly shook his head. "Oh, child, this isn't something you can control. We're not asking you to make guarantees. We're just worried someone out there has made you a target. We wanted to warn you, to remind you to be careful."

Willow understood, and the concern touched her deeply.

"Don't worry, Father Grant. I'll be more cautious from now on."

He nodded, still looking a little troubled. "I wonder if your father or Mr. Redmond have seen all the rumors online. I didn't dare call to ask—I'm afraid they might not have known, and I'd be the one to spill the secret."

"It's alright. You don't have to ask them," Willow assured him.

Willow stared unblinking at the brightest star on the horizon, wishing she could speak to her mother through it.

She needed her mother's comfort more than ever.

"Mom, I really regret it."

"If Dad becomes a laughingstock because of me, what am I supposed to do?"

"Mom, I miss you so much."

Before she realized it, tears were streaming down her face.
