Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 194

"The last time, didn't you already make me do this at your hospital?" Willow snapped, digging her heels in and refusing to take another step forward.

People always say you regret not reading more when you need it most—well, it's the same with self-defense! If only she'd learned some judo throws or taken a self-defense class when she was younger, she wouldn't be in this mess now.

Beasley, noticing how she recoiled from his touch, tried to compromise. "If you cooperate and get checked out, I'll leave you alone."

"I'm not going! Let me go!" Willow didn't believe a word he said. She kept twisting, trying to break free from his iron grip.

Beasley's patience finally snapped. Frowning, he lowered his voice in warning. "If you keep this up, I'll just carry you in myself."

The threat worked. Willow froze, startled into stillness, her struggle forgotten.

"What's going on here?"

A calm, commanding male voice rang out behind them.

Hope surged through Willow—she recognized that voice. Ian!

Her body relaxed as if she'd been tossed a lifeline. She spun around and called out, "Dr. Lockwood, help!"

Ian's eyes widened in surprise, and he hurried over.

He'd never imagined that the woman being dragged along by this man would be Willow.

"Let her go!" Ian stepped between them and reached out, intent on shielding Willow behind him.

Beasley's expression shifted when he saw Ian—he recognized him instantly. Wasn't this the man from the photo Connor had sent him yesterday afternoon? He'd already had Sanford look into his background, but hadn't expected to run into him in person before the report came back.

While Beasley hesitated, Ian seized the moment and pulled Willow away, protecting her behind his back.

Beasley didn't stop them, only called out in a cool voice, "She fainted for several minutes just now. Make sure she gets checked out."

Ian paused, looking anxiously at Willow. "You fainted? Do you know what caused it?"

Willow's face paled. She could only think of one reason: a shock-induced faint. The last time she'd blacked out from fright, it had also been because of Beasley.

The only difference was, last time she could clearly remember what had happened. This time, her memory was a blank.

"Come on, I'll take you to register at the front desk." Ian didn't waste any more time. They'd know for sure after the tests.

Willow wanted to scream. Was she doomed to end up getting examined today no matter what? She was supposed to head back to the research institute tonight—but her car was still at Lettie's place… Wait a second!

She suddenly remembered—Juliette and Lionel were still waiting at the French bistro, totally in the dark about what was happening. And her phone was still back in the private dining room, so she couldn't even contact them!
