Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 220

The only reason Connor could deny everything so brazenly was because he’d already tipped off his uncle, Eugene, during a phone call earlier. He’d made it clear that he needed Eugene to help erase the surveillance footage from the store.

As for the property damage Connor had caused in the shop, the Mitchell family had plenty of money. They’d just pay for whatever was broken—no big deal. Nothing about this situation worried Connor in the slightest; otherwise, he wouldn’t be acting so cocky.

Besides, his eyes really had hurt at the time. If he hadn’t found something to vent his frustration on, he thought he might’ve exploded. So how could anyone blame him for what happened?

“Did you hear that? My grandson said he didn’t do any of it!” Old Mrs. Mitchell believed Connor without a shadow of a doubt. She immediately turned her anger on Willow, snarling, “It must be that crazy woman—she tried to cozy up to our family, failed, and now she’s trying to take us down with her! I’ve seen her type a hundred times before.”

The plainclothes officer frowned, unimpressed. “Whether or not Connor did it, we’ll get to the bottom of it. For now, as his family, your job is to persuade Connor to come back to the station and cooperate with our investigation.”

He let his gaze sweep over the group. “If neither you nor Connor are willing to cooperate, I’ll have to use force and bring him in myself.”

Worried that his point hadn’t landed, the officer added, “I hope I’ve made myself clear.”

“How dare you!” Old Mrs. Mitchell’s anger surged so high she nearly fainted on the spot.

A housekeeper standing nearby rushed to pat her back, trying to calm her down.

But as soon as she caught her breath, the old woman turned on her second daughter-in-law, Vivian, shouting, “Are you deaf and blind? Call your brother right now! Your son is about to be falsely accused and you’re just standing there!”

He decided, one way or another, he’d make sure Willow learned a lesson she’d never forget. Ideally, she’d be so scared of him that she’d come crawling the next time they met.

Then again, if she was willing to introduce that flirtatious friend of hers for a little fun, maybe he’d consider forgiving her.

The detective gave Vivian and her outstretched phone a cool, measured look before taking it in hand.

“Hello?” The young officer’s face remained impassive, his tone steady and unshaken.

“What’s your name and badge number?” demanded the stern voice of a middle-aged man on the other end.
