Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 225

“How did she end up at the police station? What happened?”

Beasley had given his staff the afternoon off, but he himself was still at the office, phone pressed to his ear as he spoke with Sanford.

“It was Connor,” Sanford replied.

Sanford quickly relayed everything he knew so far.

Beasley’s icy blue eyes narrowed. “Connor…”

It wasn’t the first time Connor had stirred up trouble. Last time, he’d sent Beasley a photo of Willow, her friend, and Ian standing outside a movie theater. Beasley had known Connor for years—he was all too familiar with his character. Never mind his professional abilities; just in his personal life, Connor went through girlfriends faster than most women cycled through their wardrobes.

And Beasley also knew Connor had an uncle who was the chief at the local precinct.

“You said she’s already out?” Beasley asked.

“Yeah. Actually, it’s Connor who’s still in there,” Sanford replied.

Sanford had only stumbled onto the whole thing by chance. Around noon, he’d picked up an easy, lucrative job on the “black market” side of the internet: wipe all the cloud-stored security footage for every store on a certain floor of a commercial center. The job was a breeze, and the money landed in his account almost instantly. Sanford didn’t think much of it—until half an hour later, the same client paid him double to restore the very footage he had just deleted.

Now he was curious. As he repaired the files, he decided to take a closer look at what had been so important.

There were a lot of shops to sift through on that floor, and it took some time to spot anything unusual. Fortunately, it was only half a day’s worth of footage, and after more than an hour combing through the videos, Sanford finally caught sight of a familiar face—Mrs. Willow, President Windsor’s wife.

He immediately started digging for details, and by the time he’d pieced together most of the story, Willow was already out of the police station.

“Connor’s uncle is the police chief for that district, and yet he couldn’t get Connor out?” Beasley’s brows knit together. “Something must have happened.”

When had Connor started looking at Willow that way? Didn’t he know how much his own mother cared for and liked Willow?

How dare he?

Beasley’s jaw tightened as he watched the footage. The camera had caught every detail of Connor’s hungry, arrogant eyes as he stared at Willow—like a cat toying with a trapped mouse.

And then Connor actually reached out to grab her. God knows how many women those filthy hands had touched.

Beasley’s fists clenched; if he could have reached through the screen and broken Connor’s hand, he would have.

As the video ended, Beasley remembered the long-standing partnership between Windsor & Co. and the Mitchell family—a deal that went back to when his father still ran the company.

It seemed it was finally time to rethink the Mitchells’ position as their favored contractor.
