Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 227

After buying the shirt she’d picked out for her father, Willow headed straight back to his house. She hadn’t even started shopping for herself yet, but after everything that happened today, she’d lost all interest in browsing for clothes.

It was still early. Klein was still at school, but Willow didn’t plan on sticking around; she just wanted to drop off the shirt and leave. She intended to be back at Cliffhaven Gardens tonight.

She left the bag for her father with a quick note, then returned to her own place. It was barely past four in the afternoon, so Willow pulled out her sketchbook and settled in to draw.

For her next book, she’d come up with a new idea: she wanted to add her own illustrations, bringing her imagined world to life with her own hand.

She’d barely been sketching for half an hour when her phone started buzzing again and again.

After finishing a rough composition for the opening scene, Willow set down her pencil and sketchbook, then reached for her phone to check the messages.

She opened WhatsApp and raised an eyebrow.

Beasley had messaged her.

So had Ian—and Zoe.

Willow tapped on Zoe’s first. Zoe wanted to know if she was free this weekend. She’d just gotten paid, she said, and wanted to treat Willow to dinner and a movie.

Willow smirked at the not-so-subtle invitation and typed back, “Wow, you actually have a weekend off for once? Not hanging out with your boyfriend?”

Zoe had once tried to fish for details about Willow’s love life, making it seem like chatting about relationships was just what friends did to get closer. Willow had lied, claiming she had a secret crush but no boyfriend.

Zoe pressed for details, but Willow dodged the question and turned it around, asking about Zoe’s own romantic situation.

Zoe admitted she had a boyfriend—a classmate from university, she claimed.

And that, at least, wasn’t a lie. But the so-called boyfriend was nothing but a smokescreen, just someone to keep up appearances.

Willow chuckled quietly, sent her reply, then opened Ian’s message.

Zoe replied with dramatic sympathy, “Alright, make sure you take it easy then! If you get cramps, take some painkillers, okay? We’ll hang out another time.”

Willow just skimmed the message and hit back.

Now, only Beasley’s message remained—the sly, manipulative man.

With clear reluctance, Willow opened it.

Beasley: “Are you back at Cliffhaven Gardens? I’d like to see you and apologize.”

Apologize? What’s this about?

Typical—so slippery and devious.
