Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 247

“Alistair Worthington.” Rosamund called out his name, her voice thin and trembling.

“I’m here.” Alistair answered immediately from the other end of the line.

“Thank you for always supporting me, but… I’m just so tired.” There was a frail sadness in Rosamund’s tone, a helplessness that weighed on every word. “I don’t know how much longer I can keep this up…”

“Please don’t be upset, Miss Worthington!” Alistair’s reply was urgent, almost desperate. “I truly believe President Windsor had no choice but to buy back that house. You know how much Mrs. Windsor favors that woman—she must have found out Willow was planning to sell the house for cash, so she forced President Windsor to pay an outrageous price and buy it back, just to make it up to her.”

“I’m certain this wasn’t President Windsor’s idea. I’ve seen with my own eyes how much he despises and resents that woman—he’s never tried to hide it, not once, all these years.”

Alistair was Beasley’s private attorney and had drafted the divorce agreement himself. Throughout Beasley and Willow’s marriage, Beasley had never given Willow so much as a necklace or a single designer bag. Even the divorce settlement was just a suburban house—nice, but not in a prime location.

Even with the market as crazy as it was, there was no way that house was worth five million pounds.

Rosamund sighed, her voice tinged with envy. “Just having Mrs. Windsor’s affection is worth more than anything else.”

Alistair tried to comfort her. “Mrs. Windsor used to be very fond of you, too. It’s just—you’ve spent so many years abroad that you missed out on time with her. Once you finish filming, you should visit the Windsor family more often and keep Mrs. Windsor company. I’m sure it won’t take long for her to come around again.”

“I hope so,” Rosamund murmured.

Then, as if she didn’t want to dwell on it any longer, she switched topics. “By the way, Alistair, do you still have that perfume I sent you from overseas?”

“I will, don’t worry.” Rosamund’s laugh was soft and familiar. As always, she waited for Alistair to hang up first.

Not wanting to keep her a second longer, Alistair reluctantly said goodbye and ended the call.

Every time he spoke to Rosamund, a quiet sense of happiness lingered in Alistair’s heart.

She had never once hung up on him first. Such a small thing, but for more than ten years, it had warmed him to his very core.

He had once promised himself, silently and fiercely, that he would always protect this gentle, angelic woman—even if she never belonged to him, he would cherish her, no matter what.
