Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 269

That night, Beasley had just finished inspecting the progress of the Stormhawk Drones project and returned to the Opal Residences when his grandfather called.

It was almost eleven.

Clearly, the old man didn’t lack for sleep.

When Beasley saw his grandfather’s name flash on the screen, his face remained unreadable. His tone was just as flat when he answered, “Grandfather.”

“Why did you terminate the partnership with the Mitchell family without consulting anyone?” His grandfather wasted no time, launching straight into a barrage of reproach.

Beasley’s expression didn’t change. He continued upstairs, saying evenly, “I’ve found someone better suited for the job.”

“Nonsense! Do you know how many years we’ve worked with the Mitchells on this project? You just toss aside all sense of commitment and loyalty, unilaterally switching partners like it’s nothing. If word gets out about this—”

“If word gets out, everyone will be thrilled,” Beasley cut in, his voice still as calm as ever.

“Thrilled? Enlighten me—just who will be so thrilled, exactly?”

In his younger days, his grandfather had a notorious temper. It was only after retiring from the board of Windsor & Co. that he mellowed out, embracing a more laid-back approach to life. He rarely lost his cool these days, but tonight, his own grandson was putting that to the test.

“Did the Mitchells come running to you to complain? What did they say?” Beasley’s lips curled into a faint, almost amused smile. He was curious to see how his grandfather would spin this.

“Don’t use such crude words. It’s not ‘complaining.’ We’ve worked with the Mitchell family for over a decade—always smoothly, always mutually beneficial. They’ve done nothing wrong. So why would you end our partnership out of the blue?”

“Oh, really?” Beasley let out a short, humorless laugh. “Sure, we never lost money with them. But every year, our company made hundreds of millions less than we could have. I’d call that a mistake.”

A few hundred million wasn’t something Beasley would normally lose sleep over. But Connor had crossed him—so he intended to settle that score properly.

His grandfather paused, silent for a moment. He knew Beasley was right: the Mitchell deal hadn’t lost them money, but it hadn’t been much of a win either. Still, the partnership had been his own brainchild, a deal struck to showcase his influence within Windsor & Co. When his son, Vincent Windsor, took over, the deal stayed. When his grandson, Beasley, stepped in, it remained untouched. He’d assumed Beasley finally understood how to curry favor with his old grandfather. Apparently not.

Without realizing, he stopped on the stairs, resting one hand absently on the banister. The chandelier’s crystal light stretched his solitary figure into a long, lonely shadow.

“If you already know the reason, Grandfather, then you shouldn’t have called me.”

When he spoke again, his voice had turned cold.

“And one more thing—whatever happens between me and Willow, it’s none of your concern. Please don’t contact her.”

“You—!” His grandfather was left speechless with fury.

“When this year’s profits roll in, the shareholders will be singing your praises for your wise, decisive leadership. In the end, won’t everyone be happy?” Beasley’s words gave his grandfather just enough of an out to save face.

Whether he wanted to take it or not, he didn’t really have a choice.
