Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 273

Lionel sat quietly, spooning up the warm, nourishing soup. Juliette watched him in silence from across the small table.

She’d wanted to ask if he liked the taste, but seeing how quickly he finished every last drop, she figured it must have suited him just fine. After all, Lionel was notoriously picky about food—if he didn’t like something, managing even a single spoonful was usually asking too much.

Once he’d eaten, Juliette cleared away the tray, tidying up the table for him.

Lionel’s gaze inevitably drifted to her delicate wrists, noticing the faint bruises marring her pale skin. Guilt stabbed at him again.

The words tumbled out before he could stop them. “I’m sorry.”

Juliette had just turned away when she heard his apology, freezing in place.

She didn’t dare face him, didn’t dare say it was alright. How could she claim it didn’t matter? What happened between them had changed everything—there was no going back to how things were before.

Willow, sensing the moment, slipped her phone into her pocket and rose from the sofa, crossing the room toward them.

Juliette’s back was still to Lionel, but from Willow’s vantage point, she could see Juliette’s expression perfectly. Fear flickered across her friend’s face—fear that things wouldn’t turn out the way they’d nervously discussed the night before.

Willow reached out and gently squeezed Juliette’s hand, offering silent comfort while keeping a close eye on Lionel’s reaction.

Sure enough, Lionel’s brow twitched ever so slightly.

Willow caught it and almost laughed. Oh, Mr. Scott—how did you get the idea that Lettie fancied women?

Girls who are close friends hold hands or hug all the time. There’s nothing unusual about it!

Her curiosity was piqued. Today, she was determined to set the record straight.

With a deliberate gesture, Willow took Juliette’s hand in hers and leveled a challenging gaze at Lionel. A playful smile touched her lips as she asked, “Mr. Scott, are you jealous?”

“W-what do you mean?” Lionel’s eyes darted away, his posture going stiff and awkward.

Wait. Hold on.

Misunderstood?

“You mean I got it wrong?” Lionel stammered, feeling like he’d just been hit by a ton of bricks.

Juliette glared at him, exasperated. “What else? When did I ever give you the impression I was into women?” She couldn’t believe Lionel had actually made that leap. The frustration spilled out in a rush. “Girls act close all the time—does that make all of them gay?”

“What exactly goes on in that head of yours?”

Lionel shrank under her barrage, glancing helplessly at Willow.

Willow caught his pleading look and gave a little shrug, pointing to herself. “Mr. Scott, are you saying I’m the problem here?”
