Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 296

Klein nodded, then let out a heavy sigh. “When you two got divorced, did you sign some kind of agreement?”

Otherwise, after all these months, there’s no way Laverne wouldn’t know.

Willow tugged her father over to the couch, determined to finally explain everything to him.

“We did sign a confidentiality agreement. I’m not supposed to tell anyone about the divorce—except you, Dad. Hardly anyone knew I was married in the first place, so I figured, fine, whatever. All I wanted was to get the divorce over with as quickly as possible.”

Klein frowned, deep lines etching his forehead. “Then why didn’t Beasley tell his own family?”

“I’m not totally sure,” Willow admitted. “I guess he thought the timing wasn’t right yet.”

Klein remembered those tabloid headlines and gossip videos Zoe Bellamy had shown him a few months back. Maybe there was more truth to those rumors than he’d thought—maybe Beasley really had cheated, and that’s why Willow’s attitude toward him had flipped so dramatically.

If that was the case, the confidentiality agreement was probably meant to protect the other woman from being dragged through the mud.

But to keep it secret from Beasley’s own family, too? That part Klein couldn’t make sense of, no matter how hard he tried.

Still, now that the Windsors knew the truth, Klein had no intention of digging further into Beasley’s motives. As long as neither Beasley nor his family bothered Willow again, that was enough.

“You didn’t deserve any of this.” Klein’s voice was gentle.

Willow’s nose tingled, on the verge of tears. “It’s all behind me now.”

“Why don’t you stay for dinner tonight?” Klein said. “I’ll cook us something special.”

Willow’s face lit up. “I’ll help!”

Father and daughter made a quick run to the grocery store and returned with bags full of ingredients, ready for a feast.

Meanwhile, after his grandmother hung up the phone, Beasley got in his car and drove straight to Klein’s place.

He wanted to see Willow in person.

Willow hesitated, but finally nodded. Without so much as a glance at Beasley, she gathered her bags and walked toward the elevator.

Beasley’s gaze followed her until the elevator doors slid shut.

Klein noticed, frowning again.

Still putting on a show, even after the divorce?

Klein set his bags back in the trunk, then opened the car door. “Get in. We’ll talk in the car.”

Beasley tore his eyes away from the elevator. “Alright.”

Once inside, Beasley waited for Klein to speak first.

Klein regarded the man who used to be his son-in-law, all traces of politeness long gone. “Let’s not pretend you’re just here to apologize. If you have something to say, say it to me. Leave Willa out of this.”
