"Don!" Anne rushed to Donovan's bedside. She asked in panic, "You're awake? Are you badly hurt? Can you recognize us?"
It turned out that the staff had called Donovan's assistant when he was taken to the hospital. Then, the assistant informed Ethan, and the news quickly spread to the entire Kane family.
Although Donovan had just been resuscitated and his temperature stabilized, he remained weak and unwilling to speak. He barely acknowledged the concerned faces gathered around him.
While Ethan was asking the doctor about Donovan's condition, Dorothea approached Donovan with concern.
"What happened? How did you end up trapped in the cold storage? This is absurd! You nearly scared us to death!" Dorothea nagged.
Seeing that Donovan was stable but still silent, Anne turned her anger on Giselle.
Anne even shoved Giselle and scolded, "Bitch, was this your doing again? Are you getting back at Don for having you locked up? I saw you going to bother him late at night! You even headed toward the cold storage…"
"What did you say?" Giselle cut her off sharply. She locked eyes with her and prompted, "You said you saw me go to him late at night? You even saw me going to the cold storage at around 8:00 pm?"
In the face of Giselle's sharp questioning, Anne's face turned pale. She even turned slightly to avoid Giselle's gaze.
"Yes… I went to the branch office at night to look for Don. I thought he'd be in the R&D laboratory, but I couldn't find him. However, I saw your back.
"I was in a hurry to find him, so I ignored you and drove to the main office instead. I tried calling him afterward but couldn't get through. I didn't expect any of this to happen…"
Anne's explanation was clearly meant for Donovan and the rest of the Kanes.
