After Giselle read Gideon's text message, she felt slightly lost.
"What's wrong? Is it work-related? If you tell me what's going on, I might be able to help," she couldn't help but text back.
"It's not work-related," Gideon replied. "It's a long story, and it happened quite suddenly. Please don't overthink this. Just give me a couple of days to sort everything out."
Giselle didn't hear from him after that.
The current situation was making her extremely anxious. She didn't know what happened to Gideon. But whatever it was, it must have caused such a huge setback that he postponed their marriage despite how much he'd been looking forward to it.
After thinking about it, she figured that Ethan must've pressured him into rethinking this marriage somehow.
She lay back down on her bed. Before she knew it, she started developing a lot of pessimistic thoughts.
She'd trusted Gideon with her entire heart. She wasn't upset over the broken wedding plans—she was upset because the man she'd placed so much faith in had let her down too.
After laying on her bed for two hours, she stopped caring about why Gideon had postponed their marriage. She didn't even care whether they would get married anymore. Instead, she sat by herself and quietly tried to process the crushing feeling of being let down.
Lacking the will to do anything, Giselle skipped lunch and ended up spending half of the day feeling drowsy.
Feeling mentally and physically exhausted, she was just about to fall asleep when she heard her bedroom door open. She turned around in shock and found that Donovan had entered her room!
Dazed, Giselle stared at him for a moment before she came to her senses and sprang up from the bed.
"What are you doing here?" she asked in an exasperated manner.
Donovan knew the password to her door lock. When she went missing, he entered her house relatively often and even took the keys to her bedroom. Hence, he was now able to come and go as he pleased.
