Chapter 384 Coffee at Midnight
Kirby’s POV
I gave the driver a satisfied glance, memorizing his face.
I’d make him my permanent driver from now on.
Leslie sat expressionless, head lowered as she replied to messages.

Sitting beside her, my heart was in my throat, afraid she’d say one word to damn me to hell.
Her profile was as delicate as a painting. Looking at her stirred me, yet my gaze grew deeper. nervous like I was walking a tightrope.
Lance urged me in my head: “Say something. Don’t just sit there!”
I tested the waters: “Dinner tonight?”
She didn’t even lift her head. “No. My dad’s waiting at home.”
I fell silent, took a deep breath, and tried to sweep away the night’s gloom. Bracing myself, I said, “Darling, then next time.”
Her hand froze. She narrowed her eyes at me, her pine resin scent sharp and cold. “Are you sick again?”
I forced a grin. “Lovesick?”
“Get lost!” She glared at me.
Being scolded twice somehow left me feeling lighter. Guess I had a streak of shamelessness.
Lance laughed in my head: “You Alpha, your skin’s thick enough to block a blade!”
I grinned. As long as she paid attention to me, what did two curses matter?
When the car stopped at her place, I hadn’t expected Lars’s car to pull up as well. Looked like he was making a habit of staying around the western lands.
What the hell–wasn’t he supposed to be back at Rogue Pack’s ancestral land, guarding that stretch of primal forest?
Hanging around here all the time, what was he trying to pull?
Two cars stopped nose–to–nose, and my chest tightened.

After all, the last time we met, my standing had risen a step, but in front of Leslie’s father, I still had to tread carefully.
Leslie, however, was calm. She got out, set the little wolf cub down, and the butler immediately took the pup inside.
Just as she was about to dismiss me, I jumped out of the car first, buttoning my jacket as I strode toward Lars’s vehicle.
I wasn’t about to miss a chance to meet the parent–even if Leslie would be furious.
Lance clapped in my head: “Good. Go for it!”
Lars didn’t get out. He lowered the window, narrowed his eyes. “Kirby?”
I
gave a polite nod, standing with the posture of facing a kindly elder. “Good evening, Your Majesty Lars.”
He smiled faintly, his gaze flicking to Leslie, who looked more than a little impatient.
He said, “Leslie went out with Carl, and you brought her home. Thank you for the trouble.”
“My pleasure,” I replied humbly.
“Kirby, why not come in for a cup of coffee?” Lars paused, his tone clearly that of sending me
away.
I climbed right up the pole. “Of course. Thank you, Your Majesty.”
Lars was stunned. Leslie was stunned.
I stifled a laugh, thinking: Leslie, this round is mine!
The Alpha of Crimson Moon Pack never passes up a chance!
Lars‘ POV
Seeing Kirby drop Leslie off surprised me.
Looked like their relationship had advanced a step.
I didn’t like the guy, but since Kirby had saved Leslie twice, I had no choice but to allow him another shot at pursuing her.
Of course, it all depended on Leslie’s own will.
Clearly, during this time Kirby had toughened his skin in the tug–of–war with Leslie.

He even pretended not to understand my polite dismissal.
Who the hell drinks coffee in the middle of the night?!
