Burn in the Alpha Princess's Wrath novel Chapter 424

Chapter 424 A Desperate Plan

Leslie’s POV

Even Asphodel was stunned. The Frost Pack? Aren’t they supposed to be the openminded ones?

It took me a moment to find my voice. Didn’t your family dote on you? Why spring a marriage on you out of nowhere?

The Frost Pack had always been lenient with their younger generation. Ever since Eric’s mother passed, they spoiled him rottenif he asked for the stars, they wouldn’t give him the moon instead. They couldn’t even bear to scold him.

Eric squeezed out a few more tears, his voice hoarse. That was before. Now the elders see the old Alpha’s health failing and they’ve started scheming. One of them insists I sign a mate contract with his daughteror he’ll strip me of my Alpha inheritance and put someone else in my place.

I froze, shock burning into anger.

The council of elders was supposed to safeguard the Pack’s balance. This was nothing but a power grab.

And the old Alpha hadn’t noticed a thing?

Asphodel gave a cold snort. That elder’s ambition is showing. Frost Pack’s succession should already be in Eric’s pocket.”

How did things blow up like this?I asked, worry threading through my tone.

Eric hesitated, his voice rougher still. I never paid attention to Pack affairs. The elders have always been my father’s right hand. Who could’ve guessed they’d suddenly turn? I don’t even dare tell himI’m afraid it’ll kill him.”

Astrid and I exchanged a look, sympathy and exasperation written on our faces.

No wonder he cried himself sick. This handsoff young master had stumbled into a nightmare.

The three of us sat and thought in circles. The longer Eric brooded, the more he cried, until Astrid shoved at him in irritation. Stop already! Your bawling’s giving me a headache.

I paused before asking, Sois she at least goodlooking?

If he could stomach it, compromise first, fight back later.

Chapter 424 A Desperate Plan

Eric’s wail got louder. She’s a hundred years older than me!

We both just stared.

P TO

Wolves lived long, so age gaps weren’t unusual. But a hundred years? That was brutal. Poor Eric.

Astrid thought for a moment, then suggested, There’s still a way to turn this around.

We both looked at her. She smiled. Find a stronger alliance. At the same time, dig up dirt on those elders one by one. Cover both ends.

Silence fell.

Where would he find someone reliable to ally with?

Astrid winked at me.

I pointed at myself, incredulous. Me?

She nodded. Not a real bond. Just for show. With Rogue Pack backing him, those scheming elders would think twice.

Asphodel chuckled. For once, that’s actually a smart idea. If Eric pairs with youeven just on paperhe’s got Rogue Pack behind him. No one would dare snatch the succession without weighing the cost. Astrid, when did you grow a brain? You’re almost unrecognizable.”
