Chapter 47
The bottle was cold in her hand, but for some reason, the small thing burned her skin. This was the slow acting poison that her father had given her.
Rania wondered, how long it would take for the poison to finally kill the king. Would it take a month? Two months? A year?
How prepared those people to dethrone the king? She wondered about a lot of things, but in the end, her only problem was one; she wanted to kill Maximus for what he put her through.
She would be very thankful if he left her alone, but he always came back, and put her through the pain. He was the same like Caden.
And probably, even though the chance for it was very slim to none, one day, Rania would have a chance to kill Caden too.
But this, she would take care of the king first.
Rania twisted her body, and then looked at the king, who was still sleeping beside her. She hid the bottle in the same pocket. She would find a chance to give him a drop or two, so she could speed things up. She couldn’t care less about the war.
The world will be better without him.
That was what Rania told her herself when she looked at the king. His brows furrowed, as if even in his sleep, he had trouble. The nightmare must be hunting him down. Good. Rania wondered what kind of nightmare he had. She wished, it was horrendous.
“No, don’t kill her…”
At first, Rania didn’t understand the word that the king mumbled, but he kept repeating the same words over and over again with this distressed look on his face.
“No… don’t. It’s not her fault. Stay away from her…”
Rania frowned. Who is ‘she‘? Rania listened to him, as he mumbled the same thing. Sometime, he would say different thing, but Rania couldn’t catch up the word he said.
“Don’t touch Ella… Not her…”
Ella? Rania wondered, who she was.
And as time went by, Maximus became visibly more distress. He gritted his teeth, and his grip on her body became rather painful, which made Rania winched.
The king grew restless, as if he was fighting the demon in his sleep.
When the king seemed not to realize that he was hurting her, Rania tried to wake him up. She shook his body, and called him.
Chapter 47
“Wake up, it’s just a dream.” She saw layer of sweat on his forehead, and he looked pale. “My king, wake up.”
However, all of sudden Maximus grabbed her hand, and flipped her body over, his claws elongated. He was only a breath away from ripping her throat apart.
His eyes filled with malice, as an animalistic growl came from his throat. A dangerous look on his face letting Rania knew that he had every intention to kill her.
He was going to kill her, and that was what Rania believed. Murderous intention was very strong, his whole body emanated anger, and vengeance.
Everything was a blur. Rania could die without him knowing what was going on, since his claws already pressed against his skin, and blood oozed out from the wound.
