“By the way, I was looking for you last night, where were you?” Declan looked at Maximus. The king wanted him to give him the report by the end of the day, but when the time came, he was nowhere to be found.
“What did you get?” Maximus ignored him, and went straight to the main point. “Anyone saw him?”
“No.” Declan shook his head. “I asked around two hundred people…” The royal beta made a face when he said that, because it was a waste of his time to ask around this trivial matter when he could do something more worth his time, but the result surprised him. “None of them saw Killian.”
He couldn’t ask those thousand warriors with the short span of time, but there as no way two hundred people didn’t see Killian.
“Are you sure they know him?”
“Yeah, they know him. Apparently, he is quite popular.” Declan sat down, he stared at the window. “I don’t understand with all of these things. What else do you want to prove, Max?”
The king didn’t answer him immediately, but he called the warrior at the door, and asked him to find the warrior, who guarded Rania’s bedroom the other day.
“What now?” Declan frowned, his displeasure was written all over his face. He was not happy at all with whatever Maximus was going to do, because in his mind, the king could use this time to do something more productive. They had a lot of things to handle, since they had won a few cities in Barlukan Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Eiten didn’t say anything, he was mostly curious about the situation. If he had to be honest, he was more inclined to believe Rania when she said Killian was in her bedroom, though the guard, who stayed there said otherwise.
Eiten had met with Killian, and he didn’t have a good impression on him. Even though, he looked charming, and was well spoken.
Not long after, the warrior came. It was the same warrior, who lied to the king, and said that Rania lied about Killian came to the bedroom.
“You summoned me, my king,” he said politely, kneeling before the sovereign.
“I want to ask you again about the other day. Did Killian come to my mate’s bedroom?” Maximus leaned his body over, his blue eyes were a few shades darker.
“No, my king. No one entered the bedroom. It was the lady, who had destroyed her own room.” The answer was very detail, even though Maximus didn’t ask those.
On the other hand, Eiten leaned back, he crossed his arms in front of his chest, and then stared at the warrior. The royal gamma’s expression was unreadable.
“So, no one came into her bedroom?” Maximus stood up from his seat, and started walking toward the guard. He walked very slowly, just like a predator stalked its prey.
There was a subtle shift on the warrior’s expression, which was noticed by the king and the royal gamma, but
Declan seem oblivious about it.
“Yes, no one came to her bedroom. I was there for hours, and never left my position, but I didn’t see anyone come or leave the bedroom. It was only the lady there.”
Again, long and detail explanation. That was unnecessary, but he did it anyway.
“Are you sure?” This time, Maximus was already in front of the man, he stared down at him. The king was a head taller than the warrior.
“Yes, my king… there was no one there.”
“But, why I smelled someone else’s scent there?”

“Once again. I will ask you once again before you lost your life.” Maximus grabbed the warrior’s neck, which made Declan stood up from his seat, and called him in a warning tone, but the king had too far gone. “Did Killian or someone else enter the room?”
