“So, do you… believe me?” Rania’s heart was thumping so badly. She didn’t know what she had to hope for from him.

But, she realized how pathetic she was. She was starving for a validation from the other people. She wanted someone to believe her so badly. She wanted only one single person to trust what she said. She didn’t realize it until this moment.

Just one. Only one. And that would be enough.

She didn’t even realize that she was holding a breath when she waited for his answer. But then, his answer had never come, because the king decided he wouldn’t answer that.

He let go of her body, and cupped her face with his bloody hands, and stared straight to her soul.

“I want you,” Maximus said. “I want you. It didn’t matter whether you lie to me or not. I want you.”

Rania didn’t know how to feel about that. It was very important for her to have someone to trust her. But, the king had forgone everything, because he wanted her.

In this case, even if she lied, it didn’t matter? So, why would he kill the warrior if it didn’t matter?

And Rania realized how wrong it was for her to think that lives matter for Maximus. He had killed hundred warriors that he sent to the frontline in order to invade the other kingdom.

What weight did one warrior’s life for him?

Maximus wouldn’t care if that warrior had a family, who was waiting for him to come home, or maybe a mate, who loved him, or children.

Rania knew that the warrior only followed the order that instructed to him. Rania hated for his lies, but she didn’t wish for him to be killed.

“I want you, Rania. Give yourself to me.” Maximus caressed her cheeks with his thumbs, smeared the blood on her pale skin.

And then he leaned over to kiss her on the lips. The kiss was not aggressive. It was rather gentle, but what Rania could think was the poison. This was her chance to poison him. He deserved to die.

Maximus nibbled on her lip, he gently bit on them, and her backward, until the back of her knees touched the bed, and he pushed her down.

The king even cushioned her head with his hand, without breaking the kiss.

The kiss last for long time, and whenever Rania was out of breath, he would pull away for a while, brushed her swollen lips with his thumb, and kissed her back.

Rania swore, she could taste the blood in the kiss, since his fingers were covered in blood. It should have disgusted her, but for some reason, it didn’t.

Embarrassingly, she enjoyed the way Maximus took things slowly, as if he wanted to relish her inch by inch.

And when he was finally done kissing her lips, he trailed kisses on her jaw, down to her neck, while his hand kneaded her breast.

At this point, Rania felt the dress she was wearing was too tight. She needed to get out of this dress, she wanted to feel his skin.

She must have gone crazy, because she was used not to enjoying this. She feared the sex, as Caden had tainted it.

However, whenever Maximus treated her gently this way, paid attention to her need, even to her slight discomfort, she found herself was unable to resist him.
