Chapter 10

Blake’s mom sank weakly to the floor.

She kept mumbling stuff under her breath. All the fight just drained right out of her.

Blake’s dad looked awful.

I watched him clench his fists, then let go. Over and over.

“Victoria… please. What’ll it take for you to delete these videos?”

His voice was totally broken.

I turned off the TV, my face totally blank, and said:

“Let Blake divorce me. And I want every penny that’s mine–not a cent less.”

The two people came here hoping I’d convince Dad not to go after them. When they left, their backs were hunched over.

Next morning I went to see my lawyer.

We went through everything Blake and I owned. After we finished the divorce agreement, there was still time before lunch break.

So I took the divorce papers straight to Blake’s company.

When I found Blake, he was standing by the floor–to–ceiling windows and smoking.

He heard movement and turned around.

soon as he saw me, he put out his cigarette real quick.

I didn’t waste words. Just pulled out the signed divorce paper from my bag and slapped it on his desk.

‘Hurry up and sign these. We can still get to city hall while there’s time.”

Blake didn’t look at the divorce papers. He walked over to me with a pained expression I’d never seen:

Victoria, I don’t agree to divorce.”

rolled my eyes, totally speechless and let out a cold laugh:

Oh really? You want me to put that video of you and Amber kissing on every big screen in Manhattan?”

Blake’s face went deathly pale in a flash. His lips trembling, and mumbled:

Victoria, I can explain. Amber and I aren’t…”

I don’t want to hear it!”

Looking at Blake’s panicked expression, I just felt disgusted:

I’m not interested in what’s between you two! I don’t want to know if that baby in Amber’s belly is your brother’s or not! I just want to divorce you as fast as Dossible!”

3lake was still trying to patch things up, but then his dad came barging in:

‘If you don’t want the Blake family ruined in your hands, just do whatever she wants!”

Blake finally signed his name on the divorce paper.

He didn’t read the terms and conditions inside. Blake’s father wanted to stop him.

But after glancing at me, Blake’s father just sighed and said nothing.

Even though we wouldn’t get the divorce certificate for another 30 days, walking out of city hall, I felt so much better.

That same afternoon, I was on a plane heading overseas for vacation.
