The next morning, I got a bank alert on my phone.
“Your account has been charged $10 million for the purchase of an oceanfront property. Can you confirm this transaction was authorized by
you?”
I froze, then quickly scrolled through Instagram.
Sure enough, just an hour ago, Connor had posted a new story.
The photo showed a gorgeous, brand–new beachfront mansion.
In the corner of the shot, you could see the silhouette of a woman holding a baby.
The caption read:” I promised I’d give you both the best home I could possibly provide.”
I let out a bitter laugh. Using my money to buy your side piece a mansion–that’s your idea of “providing“?
This worthless trophy husband really thought he was hot shit.
The bank representative’s voice snapped me back. “Ma’am? Can you confirm whether this was your transaction?”
“No,” I said firmly. “My card was stolen by a scammer. Please freeze the account immediately.”
“And I want that money back.”
That same afternoon, Connor was blowing up my phone, completely losing his mind and interrogating me.
“Bella, what the hell is wrong with you? That card was working perfectly fine–why did you freeze it?”
“Call the bank right now and unfreeze it. I need access to that money!”
I didn’t move a muscle, my voice dripping with sarcasm.
“Oh, Mr. Big Shot Designer, didn’t you say you could provide for people with your own abilities?”
“Using my credit card doesn’t exactly scream ‘capable provider.“”
I hung up on him.
Connor called back several times, so I just turned off my phone.
Then he started harassing my sister Luna.
She got so fed up she came straight to me.
“Bella, you need to sort out this marriage drama ASAP. Connor keeps blowing up my phone–this shit has got to stop.

After I explained everything, Luna practically hit the ceiling.
“That piece of shit is using your money to keep his mistress?!”
Luna immediately hooked me up with the best divorce attorney she knew.
“Don’t worry, sis. This lawyer was my college roommate–she’s absolutely ruthless. She’ll make sure that cheating bastard leaves with nothing
but the clothes on his back!”
The next day I had a business dinner, but when I arrived at the hotel I’d booked, I discovered Connor had rented the entire place.

Chapter 4
He was throwing a birthday party for Sofia’s daughter.
He’d invited friends and family from both sides to celebrate.
The moment I walked in, the whole room went dead silent.
Connor’s face flushed red as he dragged me into the bathroom.
“Bella, why are you here trying to humiliate me?”
“I told you–Emma has never had her father around for her birthday. I just wanted to give her one special day to make up for a. Do you really have to ruin this too?”
I stared at Connor with complete indifference.
His lips were swollen and red from kissing–he looked like a complete stranger.
I yanked my hand away from his grip.
“You’re delusional. I couldn’t care less about your little birthday party. I had no idea you’d be here–I’m meeting a client.”
After I left, Sofia emerged from around the corner where she’d been eavesdropping.
“Connor, are you and Bella still fighting?”
Sofia’s brow furrowed with fake concern as she gently tried to reason with him.
“You need to stop this. You and Bella are married–don’t keep fighting because of me. You two should focus on your relationship.”
“I can raise Emma on my own if I have to, just like… how you took care of me when we were kids.”
