Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 199

“Wife?”

Charlotte almost laughed—it was so absurd, it bordered on satire.

Back when she used to call him “husband,” Darren could barely hide his disgust.

But now that she’d remarried, here he was, clinging to her, calling her “wife”?

“Darren, let go. I’ll talk with you.”

Darren’s heart skipped. She wanted to talk? Did that mean, somewhere inside, she still had room for him?

A hopeful smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

But the moment he loosened his grip, even just a little—

Smack!

A sharp, resounding slap echoed through the room, landing squarely on his cheek.

A searing pain flared up where her hand had connected.

Charlotte’s voice dripped with mockery. “Who’s your wife? Darren, have you been listening to Xena’s nonsense for so long your brain’s turned to mush?”

Darren’s face stung, burning with a mix of shock and rage.

He stared into Charlotte’s icy eyes, desperately searching for even the faintest trace of love—any sign, any shadow.

But there was nothing. Her gaze was an endless winter.

“Charlotte,” he ground out, his voice trembling, “after everything you did for me, I just want to make it up to you—”

“Make it up to me?” Charlotte snorted. “The Harrington Group is about to go under, and now you’re willing to ‘humble yourself’ to make amends with your discarded ex-wife? Your so-called compensation only surfaced when you saw how useful I could be to you.”

Darren’s heart twisted. “You think I’m just using you?”

“Isn’t that exactly what you’re doing?”

Charlotte knew all too well. Whether it was Bradley or Darren, they were both businessmen to the core.

Bradley, at least, still had a bit of a scientist’s soul left. But Darren? He was a businessman through and through—ruthless, calculating, always after the best deal.

Her words cut so deep Darren’s eyes turned bloodshot.

“What if I told you I never wanted to use you—”

“How you feel doesn’t matter to me!”
