Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 249

The middle-aged man’s brow furrowed. “You mean the eldest daughter of the Griffith family?”

“That’s right!”

The old man’s hands trembled with excitement as he gestured. “Those years, the Griffiths posted a reward worth millions for her return—her picture was plastered everywhere in the country. I still remember it clear as day!”

“Her nose, her eyes—they’re exactly the same as that girl in the posters!”

Hearing this, the middle-aged man gave Charlotte a long, searching look. A flash of realization lit up his face.

“Mother, keep an eye on them. I know one of the Griffiths’ servants. I’ll go see if I can find him and bring him over.”

It had been twenty-five years, but such a resemblance was never just a coincidence.

And with that kind of reward on the line, it was more than worth his effort.

Charlotte, meanwhile, had no idea what they were talking about.

She remained calm and nudged Darren beside her. “Your phone still works, doesn’t it? Time is money—hurry up and get in touch with the professors. I need to get back to Astra and finish my experiments.”

Darren replied, “I sent our location. They’re on their way.”

As he spoke, he suddenly took her hand in his, curling his large palm around hers and rubbing it gently. His voice softened. “Charlotte, are you still cold?”

The sudden warmth of his touch made her heart stutter, her mind flashing back to that kiss beneath the ice. Her pulse quickened before she could stop it.

She yanked her hand away. “Don’t bother with this pointless stuff. No matter how convincing you try to act, you’ll never be human in my eyes.”

Darren stiffened, the words landing like a punch to the gut.

But he recovered quickly, a lopsided grin tugging at his lips. “Who said I’m pretending to be human? Didn’t I tell you already—I’m your loyal mutt.”

Charlotte stared at him. Was this man actually proud to call himself a dog?

She turned away with a huff, ignoring him, her gaze fixed on the flickering fire as she tried to quell the restless ache in her chest.

Darren, undeterred by her silence, edged closer.

“Charlotte,” he coaxed, voice lowering to a tender hush, “this dog can fetch your supplies, save your life, and keep your hands warm. Isn’t that more than most mutts can offer?”
