Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 274

Noah saw her accept the painting, and a smile broke out across his face, unable to contain his delight. He nodded enthusiastically and dug into his meal with gusto.

After dinner, the driver took Noah home.

Darren insisted on driving Charlotte back to her own little house.

On the way, Charlotte reminded him, “For experiments with such a low success rate, most volunteers are actually found through official channels—usually from inmates on death row.”

“Those who agree to participate often get something in return: maybe their families receive financial support, or if the experiment succeeds, their sentence is commuted. So it’s not as impossible as you think to find volunteers.”

“But as long as you insist on being the subject yourself and refuse to back down, the research team can’t apply for anyone else. I hope you really think this through. Up until the experiment begins, you can still change your mind.”

“Change my mind?”

Darren’s grip tightened on the steering wheel, his gaze dark and intense. In a way, he was no different from a condemned man—she’d already sentenced him in her heart.

The difference was, those other volunteers might get their sentences reduced. He would not.

Regret?

He’d already done too many things he wished he could undo.

Fifteen years ago, he regretted sending her away—he should have kept Shortie by his side, protected her, never let anyone have the chance to hurt her.

He regretted believing the orphanage fire report and not digging deeper, not searching for her no matter the cost.

He regretted, five years ago, when she appeared before him, that he didn’t recognize her at first glance.

He regretted, three years ago, seeing her wish card hanging on the Sanctuary Chapel’s prayer tree and never asking her—just once—who the man she’d loved for twelve years really was.

He regretted, two years ago, letting her walk away again.

He regretted, when her neural implant hadn’t fully fused, never admitting his feelings, never seizing that final chance—hurting her again and again until he’d pushed her to the edge.

Now, it was far too late for regrets.

Darren’s voice was low and rough. “You said you never wanted anything to do with me again, but I can’t let you go.”
