Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 42

The official started the countdown without hesitation.

“Ten… nine… eight…”

Charlotte fought desperately against her body’s rebellion and the invisible noose tightening around her throat, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t make a sound.

The chip’s alarm shrieked in her mind, piercing and relentless, as her vision began to blur at the edges.

“Time’s up!”

The official let out a relieved sigh, though his voice carried a faint note of pity as he announced, “Contestant Eight is disqualified for presumed use of banned substances! Results void! Permanently banned! Please leave the arena immediately!”

Charlotte clenched her jaw.

So be it. The chip’s physical training task for today was already complete anyway.

The most important thing now was to get back to the lab and upload the chip’s data to the main server.

That championship throne Xena coveted so much? Charlotte had never cared for it.

The priceless emerald Darren gave Xena? That meant nothing to her either.

Summoning the last of her strength, she pressed a trembling hand to her chest and forced herself to stand.

Step by step, she shuffled toward the exit.

As she brushed past Darren, he suddenly called out, “Wait!”

Charlotte’s whole body tensed.

Had he recognized her?

Her already shallow breaths grew ragged and panicked.

Darren turned, lowering his voice. “Send your bank account details to the Harrington Group’s public email. Eight million will be transferred within three hours.”

So, that was it.

Charlotte felt a wave of relief.

In his eyes, she was already dead. How could he possibly recognize her?

Under her mask, her bloodless lips twisted in a bitter, mirthless smile.

Darren’s voice was low and tense. “Did you find out who Contestant Eight is?”

The aide hesitated. “Sir, we tried, but there’s something strange about her identity…”

Darren’s expression darkened.

He turned to the aide, eyes sharp. “What do you mean, strange?”

The aide ducked his head, uneasy. “We searched her name and ID number, but before she registered for the event, there’s nothing—her entire history is blank.”

“Even the address on her ID points to a district that doesn’t exist.”

A flicker of disbelief crossed Darren’s eyes.

He glanced up, his gaze hardening as it settled on the security cameras outside the arena.

“She couldn’t have gotten far. She must have left in someone’s car.”

“Check the street footage. I want that car found—no matter what it takes!”
