Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 55

After a brief pause, Charlotte said, “Mr. Harrington, these are the painkillers the doctor prescribed when you were discharged last time.”

Darren didn’t seem convinced. He snatched the bottle from her hand, his sharp gaze slicing over the label, eyes darkening with suspicion.

Without a word, he quietly shook a pill into his palm and let it slip down his sleeve before handing the bottle back to her.

“If you’re still not fully recovered, you should get some rest tonight. Tomorrow, we’ll go with Xena to visit the old estate.”

Though Darren’s tone was casual, his words sent a ripple through Charlotte’s heart.

The old estate…

Did that mean she would see Mr. Nathan Harrington?

She had thought, after that last family punishment, she would never have to face him again. The mere thought of Nathan weighed on her like a thousand pounds.

Early the next morning, the butler took Noah to his private tutoring, while Charlotte followed Darren and Xena to the Harrington family’s ancestral home.

But as their car pulled up to the iron gates, the family’s long-time butler stepped forward to block the way.

“Young Master, the patriarch is still furious. He heard you were coming and specifically asked me to stop you at the gate…”

Darren gave a cold, humorless smile. “Butler, think carefully. Who do you think signs your paycheck?”

“Young Master… but…”

“Move.”

Darren’s anger simmered just beneath the surface. The butler, helpless, could only step aside.

With that, Darren swept into the grand entry hall, Xena at his side, their presence unmistakably defiant.

From a distance, Charlotte spotted Mr. Nathan Harrington—stooped with age, worry beads twined through his fingers, his presence still formidable. A wave of bittersweet ache washed over her.

Darren walked forward and greeted him. “Grandfather, my wedding to Xena is coming up. I brought her today to meet you.”

Mr. Nathan Harrington sat in the place of honor, his pale eyes flicking toward Xena for barely a second before he closed them again. “Xena? My Charlotte was driven from this house by you—a disgrace of a grandson. She’s gone, and her body not even laid to rest!”

Darren’s face tightened at those words.

“The papers weren’t finalized. It doesn’t count!” Nathan declared, voice unwavering. “That’s final—I won’t give my blessing!”

Darren hadn’t expected Nathan to be so stubborn.

His expression grew icy. “If you refuse to accept Xena, then you needn’t come to the wedding in ten days’ time.”

“You ungrateful brat! Are you trying to defy me?”

Furious, Nathan lurched to his feet, but the movement was too much for him. He staggered, breath catching, knees buckling—he was about to collapse!

Charlotte rushed forward, catching the old man before he could fall.

“Mr. Harrington, careful—”

She bent to steady him, one arm wrapped firmly around his back, the other massaging between his shoulder blades in practiced, calming circles.

The entire scene played out in full view of Darren, whose eyes widened with shock.
