Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 62

As Xena spoke, her mind echoed with the housekeeper’s gossip from the night before: “When Mr. Harrington left Lottie’s room, his shirt was wrinkled right across the chest!”

Now, as she looked at Charlotte, her gaze burned with barely concealed fury.

Darren stared out the car window, silent and unmoving, voicing no objection.

Charlotte took the hint and excused herself.

Watching their car disappear down the driveway, she let a cold, triumphant smile curl across her lips.

Apparently, yesterday’s little stunt had worked perfectly.

Too bad for you, Darren. You’re finally willing to let me go, but I’m not about to let you off so easily.

Feigning weakness in front of the housekeeper, Charlotte retreated to her room.

The moment the door was locked, she didn’t hesitate—she slipped out the window.

With the advantage of her enhanced reflexes, she moved far faster than any normal person; not a single bodyguard noticed her vanish.

Across town, at the bridal jeweler’s.

Darren had already arranged for a private selection: ten one-of-a-kind diamond rings, each more dazzling than the last, all for Xena to choose from.

She slid a radiant stone onto her finger—a sparkling oval that caught the light—and turned to Darren with a playful smile. “Mr. Harrington, what do you think of this one?”

Silence.

Confused, Xena glanced up, only to find Darren frozen, staring intently at a ring in the far corner of the display case.

“Mr. Harrington!” she called, her tone teasing, but edged with annoyance.

He snapped out of his trance, sounding distracted. “I need to make a call. Take your time picking a ring.”

Without waiting for a reply, he strode out of the shop.

Once his shadow disappeared from view, Xena wandered to the case that had captured his attention moments earlier. The instant her eyes landed on the ring, her pupils contracted in shock.

The design was unmistakable—almost identical to the one he and Charlotte had bid on together at that charity auction two years ago.

A wave of rage surged through her, her chest heaving as she fought to keep it in check.

She was gone.

Darren’s heart plummeted in his chest.

No. He had seen Charlotte standing right there.

“Mr. Harrington! Mr. Harrington!”

The assistant’s voice finally snapped him back to reality.

Too many bizarre things had happened today. The cakes from Pixel Sweetery, the goat’s milk, Charlotte… Once or twice could be a coincidence, but this many times? Someone was clearly behind it.

Forcing himself to focus, Darren barked into the phone, “Get me the street surveillance footage!”

“But, sir, you just said to have someone go to Astra—”

“Forget that for now!”

His tone left no room for argument. “I want surveillance from outside 23 Moa Road. I don’t care how you get it—just do it. Now!”
