Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 67

In that instant, Darren changed his mind.

He spoke gently to Xena. “Head back to your room for now. The security team will be stationed outside—you’ll be safe.”

“But—”

She barely had time to protest before he turned on his heel, addressing the bodyguards with a cold edge. “Make sure nothing happens to her. If you slip up, your careers are over. Understand?”

“Yes, sir!”

One of the guards stepped forward, bowing slightly. “Mrs. Harrington, this way, please.”

Xena’s face paled, her chest tight with indignation, but there was nothing for it. She could only leave, seething in silence.

The door closed behind Darren with barely a sound.

His sharp eyes immediately caught sight of water stains on the hardwood floor, the trail leading all the way to the shadowy space behind the oversized sofa.

With long, purposeful strides, Darren circled the couch, every step radiating silent authority.

The scene opened up before him.

“Knew it was you,” he said, his voice cold and biting.

Charlotte, slumped on the floor from exhaustion, instinctively shrank back.

Sweat clung to her skin, her blouse damp and sticking to her body, strands of hair plastered to her neck. The chip in her system could speed up healing, but against this kind of drug, it was useless.

Darren’s gaze was merciless as it pinned her. She forced out a hoarse reply. “Mr. Harrington, I didn’t mean to invade your room. I’ll leave right away—”

“They drugged you, didn’t they?” Darren interrupted, his mind immediately jumping to Elliot. He’d heard rumors about just how wild that man could get.

Charlotte tried to get up, but Darren caught her hand and pinned her against the wall in one swift move.

“This yacht doesn’t have a medical team. Even if you walk out of here, what then?”

She answered weakly, “That’s none of your concern, Mr. Harrington.”

He leaned in, fingers tilting her chin upward, a mocking smile on his lips. “Yesterday, you were the one coming onto me. What’s wrong, lost your nerve?”

His face was so close, the heat radiating from her skin seemed to taunt her.

She tried to push him away, but the drug had sapped all her strength. He held her wrists with ease, one hand gripping the back of her neck to draw her even nearer.

That sensation…

Why did it feel so achingly familiar?

The jolt of recognition stunned him, and for a heartbeat, his mind went blank. When he came to, fury exploded inside him.

He shoved Charlotte away roughly. “Lottie, you’ve got some nerve!”

She slid down the wall, hitting the floor. Even through her confusion, she noticed Darren’s chest heaving violently.

Charlotte knew she’d rattled him—just as she’d planned.

But it wasn’t enough.

She needed him to be even more repulsed, more desperate to keep his distance.

With that thought, she lifted her head. Her eyes shimmered, lips parted in a sultry, provocative smile. Her voice came out raw and low:

“Mr. Harrington… I…”

The brazen words crashed through Darren’s mind like a thunderclap.
