Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 94

Charlotte found Darren’s interrogation almost laughable now.

She added, “I’ve already told Mr. Harrington everything there is to say. The Charlotte you’re looking for died at Sanctuary Chapel—reduced to ashes.”

“Enough!”

Darren shot to his feet, his tall frame looming as he strode closer. He planted his wide palm on the back of the sofa, trapping her in place.

He leaned in, his presence overwhelming, his eyes dark with threat. “Faking your death two years ago wasn’t enough? Now you’re pretending to be dead again? Do you really think playing dead over and over will make me feel sorry for you?”

Charlotte frowned slightly at his words.

She met his gaze, her voice calm. “You’re mistaken. Charlotte never faked her death—she just didn’t want to live in your world anymore.”

“Oh, didn’t want to?”

Darren’s eyes narrowed as his mind flashed back to all those wish cards at Sanctuary Chapel, each one carved with his name. He gave a cold laugh. “So who wrote me three thousand wish cards? Learned some new tricks, have you? Playing hard to get now?”

A shadow flickered in Charlotte’s eyes.

For over a decade, while her heart belonged to him, he ignored her, pushed her aside. Now that she no longer wanted him, he thought she was toying with him.

She reached out, idly toying with his tie. Her tone was light, almost teasing, laced with seduction. “What about now, Mr. Harrington? Are you hoping to rekindle things with your ex-wife? Relive old times?”

Old times?

Darren studied her face, so close to his, so achingly familiar—and yet, something in her expression was distant, untouchable. She was nothing like the Charlotte who used to cling to him relentlessly.

His eyes darkened. Suddenly, he caught her chin between his fingers.

“I don’t have time for your games. Admit you’re Charlotte, or should I strip away the lies myself and see if you’re telling the truth?”

His threat lingered in the air.

Suddenly, the shrill ring of a phone cut through the tension. The caller ID flashed—Herbert.

A dangerous glint flashed in Darren’s eyes as he snatched up the phone and tossed it onto her lap. “Answer it.”

Charlotte actually wanted news from Mr. Nelson, so she picked up the call, her manner composed.

“Mr. Nelson.”
