Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 96

“From now on, I don’t care if you go chasing after your dead first love, or if you run to Xena for all I care. I’m done with you.”

She didn’t want him anymore?

No—she was just lashing out, just angry because he was marrying Xena. That had to be it.

Darren leaned down, pressing a kiss to her chest, his voice dropping as if coaxing a child, “I’ll buy you a house—a big one. Move in, and we’ll forget about the past. From now on—”

“Do you have any idea how filthy you are?” Charlotte cut him off, her words cold and sharp.

Darren froze, every muscle going rigid.

Filthy?

No one else knew, but he’d only ever touched Charlotte in his entire life.

A surge of rage exploded within him. He tightened his grip around her throat, his eyes icy. “You went off with Herbert and I never once called you dirty. And you call me filthy?”

Charlotte, still in his grasp, let out a low, bitter laugh. “That’s right. You disgust me, Darren. You’re so filthy it makes my skin crawl.”

Each word struck him like a thunderclap.

A chill swept through Darren; all thoughts of passion vanished. The hard lines of his chest heaved with anger, as if he might combust at any second.

“Fine. That’s just fine.”

“Charlotte, even if you’re on your knees begging me, don’t ever think I’ll touch you again!”

He shoved her away just as his phone rang.

A polite voice came through the line. “Mr. Harrington, the preparations for your wedding three days from now are complete. Would you and your fiancée like to come for a rehearsal?”

“What rehearsal? My wife and I know each other inside out. We’ll get it right on the day.” Darren barked, hanging up. He dressed without another glance in Charlotte’s direction.

“If you’re going to die next time, do us a favor and make sure it sticks.”

With that, he stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

Charlotte watched Darren’s figure disappear down the hall, whispering under her breath, “Darren, you once saved my life. Even if you curse me to die, I still wish you a happy marriage.”

“This is the last bit of dignity I’ll ever give you.”

Five minutes later, a hotel staffer brought in several shopping bags. Charlotte dressed and went to meet Herbert, anxious to check the chip data—to find out why her body felt so weak and feverish.
