Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 125

Abriella’s rant only got more heated, but Steve cut her off. “Take it easy for a second. We don’t have any hard evidence against Evelina yet. The anonymous account’s IP is overseas. I already have someone looking into it.”

“Who else could it possibly be?” Abriella shot back, rolling her eyes. “She acts all innocent, but honestly? She’d steal her best friend’s boyfriend without blinking. There’s nothing she wouldn’t do.”

Steve actually laughed at her confidence. “With that attitude—calling people guilty before you have proof—which detective agency would even hire you?”

Abriella huffed and lifted her chin. “Like I care. Once I’ve saved enough, I’ll start my own agency, and the first thing I’ll do is steal all your business.”

Emmy jumped in, her voice more serious. “Steve, there was another employee at our company—Fiona. She died in that fire. The fire started with her car, but the medical examiner found a fatal blow to the back of her head. Do you think it’s connected to Quinnie too?”

Steve’s expression shifted instantly. “Yeah, it is. Fiona and Quinnie argued right before Fiona died. Quinnie panicked and hit her with an iron rod, killed her.”

“Then she hacked the charging station, caused a short circuit, and blew up Fiona’s car to make it look like an accident.”

And just like that, everything made sense.

All the strange details finally lined up.

That night after the company party, Quinnie went out of her way to bring Fiona back with her—probably to cover her tracks.

She must have snuck into her office, only to get caught by Fiona.

Quinnie was a programmer, so hacking the surveillance cameras and messing with the charging station would’ve been nothing for her.

Murder, arson… then she locked Fiona in the office and waited for it all to go up in flames.

Steve went on. “I’ve got all the evidence here—enough to hand straight to the police and have her arrested.”

“Thank you,” Emmy said softly.

Steve leaned back, all business. “Don’t thank me yet. Agency rules: there’s only one set of evidence, and I have to hand it over myself. Once you take it, anything that happens is your responsibility, not ours.”

A buyout. Simple as that.

The deposit was just the start. The rest of the payment was for the evidence and to take all the risk off their hands.

“I get it.” Emmy nodded. “After dinner, we’ll trade. Money for evidence.”

Abriella let out a low whistle. “Detective work pays way better than I thought. You guys made a killing in just a few days.”
