Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 60

“Emmy, you really married some random guy just for a chunk of shares? I can’t believe you’d go that far.”

Cooper glared at her and slammed the marriage certificate onto the table.

“This marriage? I don’t accept it. My daughter—Cooper’s daughter—deserves a wedding people will remember, not some rushed secret ceremony.”

He didn’t wait for a response. “That’s it. Meeting’s over. Everyone out.”

With that, he stormed out of the boardroom, his face thunderous.

The lawyers sat in stunned silence. One of them finally stood up, picked up the marriage certificate, and handed it back to Emmy, looking apologetic.

“Ms. Lincoln, I’m sorry. Mr. Lincoln refuses to sign.”

It was obvious he was just being difficult on purpose.

Emmy had expected her father to put up a fight, but she hadn’t thought he’d embarrass her in front of the whole board. She took a slow breath, trying to steady herself.

A few of the senior board members walked over. Mr. Taylor, the oldest, gave her shoulder a gentle pat.

“Don’t let this get to you, kid. Your dad’s sharp, but letting go? Not his strong suit. A will won’t be enough to make him step down.”

Another director added, “Your grandpa picked him because he could get things done, but Starlight needs someone with real vision for the future.”

“What you need now isn’t to argue with him,” Mr. Taylor said softly. “Show everyone what you can do. Prove with results that Starlight will shine brighter in your hands. When that happens, he won’t be able to hold you back—no matter what.”

Their advice lingered in the air, settling her nerves a little.

Out in the hallway, Evelina was waiting anxiously at the end of the corridor. She thought Emmy would come out after Dean’s call, but she waited and waited—no sign of Emmy.

When the meeting finally broke up, Evelina spotted Cooper storming out, looking furious.

She hung up, but before her phone even went dark, it started buzzing again—Dean.

A wry, bitter smile tugged at her lips. He was probably calling just to rub it in. With a father like hers—stubborn, petty, and publicly biased—who wouldn’t?

She didn’t answer, just declined the call and forced herself to focus on her project proposal.

She never expected Dean to actually show up.

Barely an hour into the afternoon, her office door slammed open.

Dean strode in, cold air swirling around him, his handsome face tight with anger and disbelief.

He marched straight to her desk, planted his hands on the edge, and leaned in, eyes blazing.

“Emmy, who did you just marry?”
