Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 80

A delivery guy poked his head into the room, holding a fancy-looking food box.

“Hi, is this Ms. Lincoln’s room? Mr. Sparrow ordered the Regent’s signature prawn bisque for you, Ms. Lincoln.”

Emmy frowned, her voice cool and distant. “Just throw it away.”

The delivery guy looked uneasy. “Miss, this bisque is really expensive. It’s over a hundred bucks for one bowl. Feels like such a waste to toss it.”

Emmy laughed to herself.

Expensive or not, it was still seafood. She was still healing from her burns and really shouldn’t be eating that.

Was Dean clueless, or was he just doing this on purpose?

She looked up at the delivery guy. “You have it. And please, don’t deliver anything else here.”

He left, and almost immediately someone knocked again.

Emmy rolled her eyes, assuming it was more food. “Didn’t I just say—”

She didn’t even get the words out before a young guy’s voice came from the hallway.

“James! Can we come in? We’re here to visit your wife!”

Emmy was stunned.

James got up and opened the door. Suddenly, a crowd of guys pushed in, all of them built and athletic even in regular clothes.

Every single one was carrying milk, fruit, or some kind of health supplement, packing the small hospital room to the brim.

At the front, a buzz-cut guy rushed up to Emmy and gave her a full ninety-degree bow.

“Sorry, ma’am! I was the one who got your call yesterday! I didn’t know it was really you. We’ve been getting so many prank calls at the station—so I hung up by mistake! Please forgive me!”

He shoved the milk and supplements into her hands, his voice booming through the room.

“This is just a little something from me. Please take it!”

Before Emmy could respond, the rest crowded around her.

“Ma’am, here’s mine!”

“Yeah, my mom made me bring these farm eggs—she says they’re the best for healing!”

Emmy looked at the pile of gifts filling half the hospital room and sighed. “How am I ever going to finish all this?”

James’s low voice was soft, with a little laugh hidden in it.

“You could use the extra nutrition. You’re way too thin.”

After lunch, Emmy leaned back against her pillows and answered some work emails.

James quietly sliced up a plate of fruit for her, set it on the bedside table, and then opened his own laptop to get some work done.

Every now and then, Emmy glanced over at him, watching his long fingers fly over the keys, totally focused.

She couldn’t help but wonder—when did firefighters start spending so much time on computers?

Later in the afternoon, a nurse came in to hook up her IV.

Bored, Emmy turned on the TV and flipped to the business channel.

A bold headline jumped out at her—

Nelson Corporation in Turmoil: Second Son Jamie Absent From Board Meeting—Could the Heir Be About to Change?
