Dr. Albright, desperate to get back in control, to reassert the rules of his sterile, logical world, turned to me. His voice was pleading, a whine that grated on my nerves.

"Alpha, this is insanity! We can't just let some stranger perform a procedure! We don't know who she is!"

"According to hospital protocol—" he started to bluster, grabbing onto the rules like a drowning man grabbing a piece of driftwood.

I cut him off with a single, sharp wave of my hand. The gesture was small, almost casual, but it carried the full weight of my Alpha command.
