Dumped Omega? Now Their Alpha King Begs at My Feet novel Chapter 5

Valerie's POV

A vehicle pulled up in front of the Blackwood house precisely on the hour, its engine a low, powerful hum that was felt more than heard.

It wasn't the beat-up, sputtering junker they had been expecting.

It was a matte black SUV, heavily modified, with armored plating and windows so dark they looked like polished obsidian. It was a serious, intimidating piece of machinery.

Brenda, who had been waiting on the porch to gloat, scoffed. "Look at that piece of trash. They probably live in it."

But her voice held a note of confusion. This vehicle didn't fit the "destitute rogue" narrative her father had spun.

The driver's door opened with a quiet, solid click. A man in a perfectly tailored black suit stepped out. He was tall, with the lean, hard build of a professional soldier, and he moved with a quiet efficiency.

He walked around the vehicle, his polished shoes making no sound on the gravel driveway. He came to a stop in front of me and opened the rear door with a smooth, practiced motion.

Then he did something that made the Blackwoods freeze on the porch. He gave a slight, formal bow from the waist, his eyes respectfully lowered.

"Lady Valerie," he said, his voice respectful and even. "It is an honor. We have been waiting for you."

The word "Lady" hung in the air. The Blackwoods stared, their smug expressions wiped clean off their faces, replaced by slack-jawed disbelief.
