Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 224

Renee even sent her a giant screenshot.

Emma didn’t deny it.

Renee: Oh my god! Where did you go? Who’s that guy in your Insta story? Who are you traveling with?

Emma: Our old Dance Academy’s tour group is performing in Europe. I came along with the teachers for the experience.

Renee: Girl, you’re in trouble. Theodore is about to lose it—no, scratch that, he’s already lost it.

Emma checked their class group chat. Nothing. No one was saying anything.

Renee: Seriously, Emma, who would talk about this in the main group? The guys have their own private chat! They’ve already started grilling me.

Emma was puzzled. How did you even see that post?

Renee: Babe, ever heard of six degrees of separation? Friend of a friend, you know. There’s always a connection. By the way, did you not tell Theodore you left? He looks furious. He called the first guy who posted your photo in their group.

Emma: Uh… I didn’t, actually.

Renee: Okay, so if Theodore comes to me, what should I say?

Emma told Renee to just say she didn’t know. She’d barely hit send when a message from Theodore popped up. He’d sent her a screenshot of Sebastian’s Instagram post, demanding: Care to explain what this is about?

Emma didn’t reply.

Theodore’s messages kept coming, one after another.

Cecilia had been watching his outburst from the start. She approached quietly. “Theo…”

Theodore rubbed his brow. “Cici, stay here and enjoy yourself a few more days. I’m going to book a flight home.”

“Theo…” Cecilia’s voice was barely above a whisper. “Even if you fly back now, it won’t help. She’s not at home, and she’s not in Cresthaven…”

Theodore finally took a deep breath. “You’re right. I wasn’t thinking.”

“Please, don’t get so upset,” Cecilia soothed. “Emma probably just got bored at home and wanted to have a little fun.”

“Fun? With her foot the way it is? Why go off without telling me? Why with another guy? Didn’t I promise I’d take her somewhere myself in a few days?” Theodore blurted out, only to notice Cecilia looking hurt and timid. He realized he was taking out his anger on the wrong person.

“I’m sorry, Cici. I’m not mad at you. It’s just…” He finally understood why he’d been so anxious these past few days—the answer was right here all along.
