Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 348

When they left the Wellness Center, Larson ushered Emma and her grandmother into the car first, then turned back to find Dr. Fletcher.

It was almost twenty minutes before he reemerged, flashing Emma a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry,” he said. “I spoke with Dr. Fletcher about the treatment plan. We’ve got another month here in Cresthaven, right? Let’s come in for Meridian Therapy every day and stick to the rehab program. We’ll see how things look by the end of the month.”

Emma didn’t have much faith in the plan, but when she saw the hope shining in her grandmother’s eyes—and in Larson’s too—she couldn’t bear to disappoint them, especially her grandmother. She forced a smile and agreed, “All right.”

From that day on, Emma’s life settled into a strict routine: shuttling between the Wellness Center and home, day after day.

A week later, Larson told her it was time to meet with Theodore to finalize the transfer of shares.

He insisted on accompanying her himself.

What he didn’t mention was that, if it hadn’t been for his lawyer’s constant pressure, Theodore would have tried to stall the process even longer.

Emma’s role was actually quite simple. Larson had already reviewed all the paperwork and agreements—her only job was to show up and sign.

It was almost as if she’d just appeared out of thin air; she entered, signed the documents, and only spent a few moments in front of Theodore. Larson handled nearly all the conversation.

As soon as the signatures were done, Emma turned to leave. Theodore rushed after her—only to nearly crash into an immovable barrier: Larson, standing firmly between them.

Theodore looked frustrated. “Bro—”

“Don’t call me that. I don’t have a brother,” Larson cut him off coldly. “Just transfer the money to Emma’s account within the agreed timeframe. For anything else, contact the lawyers.”

Emma was already heading down the stairs when Theodore, desperate and angry, called out, “Don’t forget, Emma and I aren’t officially divorced yet—there’s still the thirty-day waiting period! I can still withdraw my consent!”

“That’s fine,” Larson replied, unruffled. “You can change your mind whenever you like. We can wait, as long as you can keep dragging this out.”

Theodore’s expression darkened. “You’re not going to sink so low as to sabotage me in business, are you?”
