Mason didn’t miss her reaction.
A slight smile touched his thin lips, and his movements became even more gentle.

Whether intentional or not, as he applied the antiseptic, his long fingers occasionally brushed against hers, sending waves of heat through her.
The whole process–cleaning, applying medicine, and bandaging–should have taken only a few minutes.
But to Sienna, time was dragging on forever.
The blush that had started at her ears had now spread to her cheeks.
“All done,” Mason said, pulling his hand back right on time and packing up the medicine. “This is just a temporary fix. I’ll bring you some more tomorrow.”
Sienna quickly drew her hand back. “No thanks. I’m a doctor, remember?”
Whatever medicine she needed, she could prepare or handle it herself.
“You’re the patient now, so just be a good patient and listen.” Mason’s gaze fell on her bandaged hand. “If this gets worse, your hand will swell. It’ll be hard to explain to your family.”
Sienna thought about it and decided not to argue further.
Mason started the car and headed towards Cooper Manor. “By the way,” he said casually, “my grandfather
wants to meet you.”
Sienna had been looking down at the neatly bandaged wound on her hand.
The bandage was pink and had a cartoon Hello Kitty printed on it.
‘Does he actually go for cute stuff like this?‘ Sienna thought, a little thrown off. ‘His taste is… quite unique.
She was pondering this when his words suddenly registered.
Her lashes lifted as her clear eyes shifted to his well–defined profile.
‘Wait, his grandpa?‘ Sienna wondered, still kind of shocked. ‘He actually wants to meet me?‘
“Sophie coming back from the brink of death and recovering so well, able to live a normal life… It’s all thanks to you,” Mason explained, his voice low and magnetic. “Grandfather wants to thank you himself.”
Sienna was about to say it wasn’t necessary.
But his lazy, deep voice sounded again: “Besides, the Brown and Cooper families have always been close. And with that childhood marriage pact between us… Now that you have returned home, Grandfather naturally wants to meet you and discuss the engagement in person.”

Sienna was left speechless.

‘Honestly, did he have to tack on that last bit?‘ Sienna thought, her annoyance barely contained. “This guy’s got “shameless” and “overbearing” down to an art form.’
The car rolled slowly into the Cooper estate.
Sienna was just about to unbuckle her seatbelt and get out.
But before she could, Mason leaned over, his long, elegant fingers unbuckling her seatbelt for her.
Sienna couldn’t help but notice Mason’s alluring collarbone again, making her pulse quicken in spite of herself.
‘He’s flaunting it like a peacock fanning out its feathers,’ Sienna thought to herself.
Then, Mason got out, walked around to the passenger side, opened the door for her, and offered his hand. “Let me help you.”
Sienna was left speechless.
It was just a scratch on the back of her hand, not a disability.
But it was clear that if she didn’t take his hand, Mason, who seemed addicted to playing the chivalrous knight, wasn’t going to let it go.
Sienna glanced towards the brightly lit main house; someone was obviously still waiting for her in the hall.
She placed her hand in Mason’s palm.
His large hand was warm and easily enveloped hers completely.
He protectively shielded her head as he helped her out of the car.
And still, he showed no intention of letting go.
Sienna shot him a look.
Mason didn’t miss a beat. “I’m just worried you might bump the wound and make it worse.”
‘Yeah, right. Like I’d ever believe you. You are so sly,’ Sienna thought, rolling her eyes.
From behind the fluttering curtains at a second–floor window of the main house, a pair of eyes watched, burning with jealousy.
Amanda stood there, watching as Mason fussed over Sienna, speaking to her with that soft focus in his eyes and clinging to her hand like he had no plans of ever letting go.
She was so jealous.
She just didn’t understand.

She thought that anyone could see that she, the top–tier, perfectly cultivated socialite of Orlathis, raised meticulously by the Cooper family, was a thousand, no, ten thousand times better than that country bumpkin
Sienna.
‘Why does he have to choose that farm girl?‘ Amanda grumbled inside, jealousy gnawing at her. ‘Seriously, where am I losing out to her?‘
Before, she had tried so hard to be gentle and pleasing in front of Mason, showcasing her excellence and her capabilities.
For Mason, she had pushed herself to become more perfect, more outstanding, all to secure her position as the future lady of the Brown family, to show everyone that she was the most suitable match for him.
But Mason was always lukewarm towards her, never really saw Amanda.
‘How did Sienna manage to get Mason to acknowledge the childhood engagement pact and accept her as his fiancée so quickly?‘ Amanda fumed.
‘That country girl must have all sorts of tricks and schemes up her sleeve,‘ Amanda thought. ‘Even someone as distinguished as Mason got fooled by her.’
Meanwhile, in the brightly lit hall of the main house.
As soon as Sienna and Mason walked in, they spotted Gerard and Pansy lounging on the couch–just like they expected.
Rolf wasn’t around; he was probably told to go rest upstairs for the night.
When they saw Sienna, both of them visibly relaxed, relief washing over their faces.
Pansy hurried over with a warm smile. “Sienna, you’re back.”
She called out to Mason, “Mason, you came too? Did you bring Sienna home? Thank you for your trouble. Eden, please get Mason a glass of water.”
Mason, shedding his usual lazy, teasing demeanor, smiled reservedly and politely. “It’s no trouble at all, Mrs. Cooper. Seeing Sienna home safely is what I should do.”
The implication was quite obvious.
Pansy’s gaze fell on their joined hands, and then she exchanged a look with Gerard.
They’d made their position clear from day one.
It was always Sienna’s wishes that came first.
Given Sienna’s personality, if she were unwilling, she wouldn’t have given Mason the chance to hold her hand
like this.
Pansy didn’t comment on it, but her eyes suddenly caught the pink Hello Kitty bandage on Sienna’s other
