Seeing how eager Mia was to get her out of there, Amanda’s heart gave a hard jolt. She couldn’t shake off the bad feeling rising inside her.

She’d finally made it to the Brown villa, and she’d spent all night planning how to impress Sherwood, how to subtly throw shade at Sienna in front of him, and how to show she had what it took to be Mason’s wife.

But now, she couldn’t even get a glimpse of Sherwood. ‘How could I possibly accept this?‘ Amanda thought stubbornly, her unwillingness burning in her chest.

Amanda fluttered her lashes anxiously. “Mia, Sherwood’s health is what matters most… Why don’t we just wait here a bit? Maybe once he is rested, he’ll let us see him.”

She carefully lifted the insulated box, her tone all innocent sweetness on purpose. “I got up super early today just to make nourishing soup for Sherwood, using that rare Wellness Powder I barely managed to snag at the last auction. It took me three hours to cook this up.”

“Wellness Powder?” Mia gasped. “You mean that legendary herbal formula created by Dr. C, the miracle

worker who never shows his face? People say he can raise the dead with his medicine. A tiny 10–gram bottle of that stuff is worth more than a million bucks.”

Amanda gave a sweet nod, her big eyes sparkling with sincerity. “As long as it helps nourish Sherwood’s health, that money doesn’t matter at all.”

Mia hadn’t expected her to be so willing to spend such a fortune just to curry favor with Sherwood.

That miracle medicine brewed by the elusive Dr. C had a price, sure, but it was pretty much never actually for sale.

For Amanda to get her hands on a bottle, it wasn’t just a matter of throwing money at it; she must have pulled quite a few strings.

Mia did want to help Amanda, as it would benefit her own future.

But when she remembered the look on Sherwood’s face and how he’d reacted just now…

She really didn’t want Amanda to witness her getting shot down again–she’d just look even more helpless.

Mia was about to refuse.

Just then, Finn came out of the study, his voice ringing sternly down the hallway as he addressed the staff. “Listen up. Mason will be bringing an honored guest back soon. Sherwood wants the whole house spotless- no dust, no mistakes. Coffee, snacks, and everything served must be the best of the best. And the front hall decorations–do it exactly as Sherwood requested.”

Mia and Amanda were both stunned.

‘Well, Grandpa doesn’t want to see Amanda right now,‘ she thought to herself.

‘But soon, Mason will be home.

‘Isn’t this the perfect opportunity for Mason and Amanda to bond?

As soon as that idea popped into her head, Mia flashed Amanda a dazzling smile. “Amanda, since you put your heart into making this soup, and it’s such a thoughtful gesture, maybe once Grandpa tries it, he’ll perk right up. Let’s just wait for a bit in the side lounge.”

Finn, catching wind of their conversation, furrowed his brow and came over, looking like he was about to say something.

Mia jumped in quickly, “Finn, this soup’s been brewed with the famous health tonic made by Dr. C. We’ll just wait until Grandpa wakes up, let Amanda hand it to him in person, and then we’ll head out. We won’t bother him at all. Come on, is that really too much to ask?”

At the mention of “Dr. C,” Finn cast a look at the soup flask in Amanda’s hands, then gave Mia a meaningful glance.

After all, Mia was still the eldest daughter of the second branch, so Finn nodded. “Then please, ladies, make yourselves comfortable in the side lounge for now. We need to get the main hall ready for the honored guest.”

As long as they could stick around, there was still a shot to turn the tables. Mia was more than happy to play along.

Amanda’s heart leapt with joy, and she quickly nodded obediently.

As long as she could stay in the Brown residence, there was an opportunity.

At the Cooper estate, Sienna had just come downstairs when she heard laughter floating in from the living

room.

She lifted her gaze toward the source.

Sure enough, there was Mason, lounging comfortably on the couch and chatting away with Rolf and Pansy.

His posture was lazy yet elegant, his words appropriate. He didn’t seem overly fawning because of Sienna, yet everywhere he showed respect for the elders and regard for Sienna.

He had Rolf and Pansy grinning from ear to ear, practically unable to wipe the smiles off their faces.

They were so charmed by him that they almost forgot all about the fact that this guy was here to steal their precious Sienna away.

“Sienna, you’re up,” Pansy called out, spotting her and beaming as she stood up. “Come on, breakfast’s ready. Mason’s been waiting for you for ages.”

Sienna glanced at the clock on the wall as she walked over. “We said ten o’clock.”

It was only eight–thirty.

Mason looked up, his usually cool, almost otherworldly face softening into a gentle smile. Even his enchanting eyes seemed to glimmer with warmth. “One day apart feels like a year.

“Plus, getting to spend some extra time talking with you is honestly a privilege,” Mason said smoothly, sounding completely genuine.

Pansy burst out laughing again.

Sienna rolled her eyes. “You’re unbelievably cheesy.”

Mason remained unruffled. “Hey, when it’s straight from the heart, how could it possibly be cheesy?”

Sienna shot him an exasperated look and went straight to the dining room, sitting down to eat breakfast.

The others were waiting for her nearby.
